The image shows a date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) bearing young fruit. The fruit is green, growing in large, dense clusters, each cluster containing hundreds of small oval fruits. The pale yellow fruit stalks, radiating from a central point like a bundle of strings, hang around the trunk. The trunk of the date palm has a characteristic brown fibrous bark, above which is a canopy of long, narrow and pointed leaves, spreading out in all four directions. This is the stage when the fruit is still young, later turning yellow, red or brown when ripe.
