Dash Reader is an RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) speed-reading overlay. It flashes text one word at a time at a fixed point on screen, so your eyes never move — letting you read 3× faster than normal. How it works: • Select any text on a page and press Alt+R (or click the toolbar icon), or start from any paragraph via clickable start markers • Words flash at a fixed point at your chosen speed (100–1000 WPM) • Smart punctuation pauses — commas, semicolons, colons, dashes and sentence enders get proportionally longer rests; paragraph breaks pause the longest • Multi-word chunks stay in step with the voice and the timing Features: • Read aloud in step with the words — the voice becomes the clock; wpm maps onto speech rate with per-voice calibration • 4 reading themes (dark, light, sepia), 3 font sizes, 4 fonts • Keyboard controls: Space pause/resume · ←/→ step one word · ↑/↓ ±25 WPM · [ / ] skip 10 words · Esc close • Reading stats — words read, average WPM and estimated time saved, rolled up per day and kept 90 days • Settings sync across your devices via Chrome sync; live preview on the options page • No account, no signup, no data leaves your device
