Dark mode for Google Sheets™, Google Docs™ and every other site you open — including the ones other extensions give up on. Most extensions in this category quietly fail on the tools you spend your working day in. Sheets stays blinding white because its grid is drawn to a canvas, Docs comes out looking wrong, and you end up running two extensions just to cover both apps. DarkWave handles all of it, and the rest of the web, in one place. ───────────────────────────── WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT ───────────────────────────── ▸ Spreadsheets that actually go dark Google Sheets™ renders its cells to a canvas element, which is why most extensions leave the grid white and only tint the toolbar. DarkWave darkens the whole sheet — every cell, every row, the frozen panes and the formula bar. Google Docs™ is handled the same way. ▸ It leaves already-dark sites alone Inverting a site that ships its own dark theme turns it light — the exact opposite of what you wanted. DarkWave checks four independent signals before it touches a page, and skips the ones that are already dark. If you disagree, one switch in the popup overrides it for that domain, permanently. ▸ Photos still look like photos Images, video, logos and SVG icons are re-inverted so they keep their real colours instead of coming out like an X-ray. The maths is done in a way that cannot clip near-white or near-black pixels, which is what leaves photos looking washed out in other tools. ▸ No white flash Styles are injected at document_start, before the page paints. No flash, no flicker, no jarring half-second of white on every navigation. ───────────────────────────── TWO KEYS TO REMEMBER ───────────────────────────── ⌥/Alt + Shift + D — the dark mode keyboard shortcut. Switches it on or off across every tab, without opening the popup. ⌥/Alt + Shift + B — a page looking wrong? Exclude just that site and reload it untouched. Press it again to bring it back. That second one matters. Inverting a page is a blunt instrument, and a small number of sites fight it: archive and snapshot viewers, canvas-heavy web apps, pages with unusual inline styling. On those, one keystroke gets you out — and you never have to choose between one awkward page and the whole extension. Both shortcuts appear inside the popup and on the guide that opens when you install, showing whichever keys the browser actually assigned you. So they are correct even if another extension already claimed the defaults. ───────────────────────────── CONTROLS ───────────────────────────── • Global on/off — one switch for everything • Per-site dark mode override — force it on or off for a domain, saved permanently • Site exclusion list — manage every excluded domain from the popup • Brightness slider, 50–100% • Contrast slider, 50–120% • Image protection — toggle the photo re-inversion • Smooth transitions — animate the switch, or don't • Auto schedule — comes on between set hours, e.g. 8 PM to 7 AM, sunset to sunrise • Four presets — Balanced, Midnight, Soft, and Abyss for true-black OLED screens ───────────────────────────── PRIVACY ───────────────────────────── A dark mode extension with no data collection and no network requests. None at all. Fonts are bundled inside the extension and site icons come from your browser's own local cache, so nothing about the pages you visit ever leaves your device. Every setting is stored locally by the browser. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, no remote code. ───────────────────────────── ONE HONEST LIMITATION ───────────────────────────── Browsers do not let any extension restyle their own internal settings pages, or the extension store itself. Those stay light. It is a browser-level restriction rather than something an extension can work around, so treat any claim to the contrary with suspicion. ───────────────────────────── GETTING STARTED ───────────────────────────── 1. Install it. Every site is dark immediately — there is nothing to switch on. 2. A guide opens once, showing your two shortcuts. Two minutes, and worth it. 3.
