Dark Mode Next
Overview
Manifest V3 dark mode for any website: smart color inversion, per-site preferences, and fine-tuned filters.
Dark Mode Next is a modern Manifest V3 Chrome extension that turns any website dark with smart CSS inversion. Built for the current Chrome extension platform, it applies filters locally in your browser — no accounts, no cloud, no tracking. Features: • Smart dark mode — uses CSS invert + hue-rotate to darken pages. Optional media preservation keeps images and videos looking natural. • Per-site toggle — enable or disable dark mode for the current hostname from the popup. Your choice is remembered automatically. • Keyboard shortcut — press Ctrl+Shift+D (⌘+Shift+D on Mac) to toggle dark mode on the active site. • Site modes — apply dark mode to all sites, only a whitelist, or everywhere except a blacklist. • Filter tuning — adjust invert, contrast, brightness, warmth (sepia), and grayscale to get the look you want. • Master switch — turn the extension off globally without uninstalling. • Local-only — all settings are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device. No analytics, no ads, no remote code. How to use: 1. Install Dark Mode Next 2. Open any website 3. Click the extension icon and toggle “Dark mode here” 4. Fine-tune filters and site lists in Settings Note: Some sites with native dark themes, heavy canvas/WebGL, or complex layouts may not invert perfectly. Chrome Web Store and extension pages cannot be modified by extensions (browser restriction). Privacy: Dark Mode Next does not collect or transmit personal data. See our privacy policy for details.
