Overview
A line-by-line curtain overlay for the current Chrome tab — hide what you have already read so your eyes keep moving forward.
Curtain Reading draws a moving curtain over the lines you have already read on the current Chrome tab. Your eyes stay on unread text—useful for news, blogs, and long articles. How to use 1. Open an http(s) article page. 2. Click the Curtain Reading icon → Start. 3. Use the on-page bar to Pause, Resume, Cancel, or change speed. 4. The window gently auto-scrolls to keep the curtain badge in view. Privacy • Page text is measured only in your browser. • Nothing is uploaded to our servers. • Details: https://www.curtainenglish.com/privacy#chrome-extension Related product • From the toolbar popup (when idle), you may open curtainenglish.com — our classic English book reading app (same curtain method, quizzes and translations). Optional link only; not required to use the extension. Notes • Works best on normal HTML articles (not Chrome’s PDF viewer, and not every nested scroll reader). • Broad site access is required so the curtain can run on the page you choose to start. **Version:** `1.0.1` WHAT CHANGED (user-visible behavior) 1) Two-column article bodies On pages that lay out body copy in side-by-side columns (CSS grid / flex / sibling columns), the curtain now finishes the left column top-to-bottom before starting the right column, instead of zigzagging left/right by vertical position. 2) Article headlines on BLOX / TownNews sites Headlines inside <header class="asset-header"> (common on local news sites powered by BLOX CMS) are included in the reading path. Previously they were incorrectly treated as site chrome and skipped. 3) Reading-path robustness (same product behavior, fewer false skips) Improved detection so article title regions and main prose are less often dropped as “nav/chrome,” while ads, related widgets, share bars, and real site headers remain excluded. 4) Curtain timeline ordering Visual lines that carry a DOM reading-block order are no longer re-sorted purely by Y/X geometry after measurement (that re-sort previously undid correct column order). **Version: **`1.0.2` -What's new Better headline alignment and more reliable Start. Smoother reading when hero images load. Improved support on CNN, Global News, Motley Fool, and other news sites. Optional link to Curtain English (curtainenglish.com) in the popup when idle.
