Currency Converter with Tax Refund · Homeprice
Overview
Converts prices on any site into your currency, shows the real price on hover, and estimates your tourist tax refund.
Homeprice is a currency converter for people who shop abroad. It converts every price on any website into your own currency, automatically, as you browse. Hover any converted price to see the original, the exchange rate it used, and how fresh that rate is. It also does something no other currency converter does: it tells you what you would get back in tax. Most countries refund sales tax to visitors. On a shelf price abroad, that is often 5 to 25 percent sitting there unclaimed. Homeprice knows the VAT and GST refund schemes of more than 60 countries, including the rate, the minimum spend, whether the tax is deducted in store or refunded on departure, and roughly how much the refund operator keeps. It shows you the price after the refund, not the headline tax rate, because those are very different numbers. WHAT IT HANDLES Around 70 currencies, in the formats shops actually use. Comma grouping and dot grouping. Indian lakh grouping. Three decimal dinars. Symbols before and after the number. Currency words written in their own script, so a Thai shop showing 490.00 บาท converts just as happily as one showing $19.99. It works out which currency a symbol means rather than guessing. A bare dollar sign is eleven different currencies, so Homeprice reads the currency code, the shop's own product data, the domain, and the country in the web address before deciding. When it is still guessing, it says so instead of pretending. It copes with real shops, not just tidy ones. Prices split across several elements. Hidden copies kept for screen readers. Items that load as you scroll. Sites that rebuild themselves after you touch them. PRIVACY No account. No sign-up. No tracking, no analytics, no ads. The pages you visit never leave your browser. Prices are found and converted locally. The only network request Homeprice makes is asking a public endpoint for exchange rates, about every six hours, and that request contains nothing about you or the page you are on. It works offline too, using a bundled rate table, and tells you when it is doing so rather than passing old numbers off as current. GOOD TO KNOW Homeprice changes what you see, never what you are charged. Checkout still happens in the shop's currency at your card's rate, which will differ from the mid-market rate shown here. Tax refund figures are estimates from published scheme rules, checked in August 2026. They are a guide for deciding whether something is worth buying, not a quote. Rules change, so confirm with the retailer. Press Alt+Shift+P to turn it off for a page. Add any site to the skip list if you would rather see untouched numbers there, for example your bank.
