Curio is a private, age-appropriate, and grounded AI tutor that turns a single uploaded textbook chapter, study guide, worksheet, or page capture into an interactive learning companion. Built to run client-side for maximum child safety and privacy, Curio has no backend servers. FEATURES • Grounded Learning — The tutor answers questions and explains concepts using only the uploaded chapter material, preventing hallucinations or outside distractions. • Step-by-Step Math — Mathematical and scientific calculations are verified and explained step-by-step with clean formatting. • Interactive Diagrams — Generates custom Mermaid flowcharts or SVG diagrams to illustrate scientific processes (like water cycles) or math coordinates. • Progress Visualization — An encrypted dashboard shows learning graphs, assessment history, score progression curves, and active review topics. • Local Memory Resiliency — Stays active and resumes seamlessly if you close the window, with a manual "Discard" button to instantly purge all context. • Interactive Quizzes — Pauses for quick comprehension checks and provides a final graded assessment to test understanding. HOW TO USE IT 1. Click the Curio icon to open the study panel. 2. Select your student's age band and primary language. 3. Paste an API key from your selected provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or OpenRouter) and consent to direct API transmission. 4. Upload a scanned page, photo, textbook chapter, or document to begin. 5. Ask questions, work through problems, and take quizzes! PRIVACY & SECURITY • Pure Client-Side — Curio runs entirely in your browser. All chapter text, vectors, and chat history are saved encrypted locally using browser-native AES-GCM-256. We do not run servers or track you. • Direct Egress — Your data goes directly from your browser to your selected AI provider using your own API key. • Total Purging — Use the red "Discard" button in the chat header or the dashboard clear action to immediately wipe all encrypted records. PERMISSIONS • Storage — Utilized to hold local preferences and encrypted progress logs. • Host Permissions — Necessary to communicate directly with your selected AI provider and download local vector search model weights.
