Overview
Load and run third-party CRX or ZIP extensions inside the CRX Loader host extension.
CRX Loader helps you install and manage Chrome extensions from CRX or ZIP files in one secure loader workspace. If you have a CRX file, a ZIP package, or an offline extension build, CRX Loader gives you a clear install flow with upload, permission review, extension management, popup hosting, options access, update checks, and uninstall cleanup. WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH CRX LOADER ▸ Install Chrome extensions from CRX files Upload a .crx package and let CRX Loader extract, inspect, and install it inside the host workspace. ▸ Install Chrome extensions from ZIP files Use ZIP packages or unpacked extension builds without manually managing every file yourself. ▸ Review permissions before installation See the permissions requested by the extension package and continue only after confirming the required access. ▸ Manage the installed extension in one place View the extension name, icon, version, install status, update state, and available actions from the Options workspace. ▸ Run extension popup pages when available When the installed extension includes a popup, CRX Loader opens it through a hosted popup container. ▸ Open extension options pages when available If the installed extension provides an options page, CRX Loader can display it inside the management workspace. ▸ Handle extensions without popup pages If a package does not include a popup, CRX Loader shows a helpful fallback view instead of leaving you with a blank action page. ▸ Check for updates and uninstall cleanly Run update checks when supported, and remove installed extension data when you no longer need it. COMMON USE CASES • Install a Chrome extension from a CRX file you already have. • Test or manage an extension package distributed as a ZIP file. • Work with offline Chrome extension installs in a more organized interface. • Open and manage a packaged extension without using Chrome's developer-mode "Load unpacked" screen every time. • Review requested permissions before continuing with an extension install. • Keep one active loaded extension workspace that you can inspect, update, or uninstall. WHY USE CRX LOADER? Chrome's built-in extension installation workflow is not designed for every CRX, ZIP, offline, or manually packaged extension scenario. CRX Loader focuses on the practical install-and-manage workflow: choose a package, review what it needs, install it into the host workspace, and manage it from a clear interface. It is especially useful when you are looking for a CRX installer, need to install a Chrome extension from CRX, want to install a Chrome extension from ZIP, or prefer a structured loader workspace instead of a scattered manual process. CRX Loader is built for users who want control and visibility. It does not try to be a CRX download mirror or a store scraper. Bring your own extension package or supported install URL, review the install flow, and manage the result from one place. KEY FOCUS AREAS • CRX install workflow • ZIP extension package install workflow • Chrome extension offline install support • Permission review before install • Hosted popup and options access • Installed extension management • Update check and uninstall cleanup CRX Installer — CRX Loader gives you a practical workspace for CRX and ZIP extension packages, with the tools you need to install, inspect, run, and manage them more confidently.
