Cruelty-Free Checker
Overview
Cruelty-free answers while you shop: Leaping Bunny & PETA verdicts with sources, vegan flags, and kinder alternatives.
Know before you buy. Cruelty-Free Checker shows each brand's animal-testing status right on Amazon (and Sephora, Ulta, and Target from v1.2.0) — while you're deciding, not after. Honest verdicts, not just green checkmarks. Most tools answer "yes/no" and hope for the best. Cruelty-Free Checker tells you what it actually knows, in five states plus a conflict flag: - Leaping Bunny certified — the gold standard (CCIC / Cruelty Free International) - PETA cruelty-free — on PETA's Global Animal Test-Free list - Cruelty-free brand, parent tests — the brand doesn't test, but its parent company does (you decide how you feel about that) - Tests on animals — on PETA's "Companies to Avoid" list - Not certified / unknown — we don't know, and we say so instead of guessing - Source conflict — certification bodies disagree; we show you both sources and let you decide Evidence, not vibes. Every verdict shows its source (PETA or Leaping Bunny) and the date it was last checked. One click takes you to the source page. Vegan filter. 3,500+ brands flagged vegan from PETA's "...and Vegan" list. Turn on the 🌿 Vegan-only filter to hide everything else. Kinder alternatives. When a brand tests on animals, the badge expands to show certified cruelty-free alternatives in the same category — so "no" comes with a "try this instead." Parent-company transparency. 52 parent companies mapped, with honest statuses: certified, tests, not certified, or unknown — never blurred together. Strict mode. Only want Leaping Bunny certified? Flip on strict mode and everything else is treated as unverified. Your privacy, period. All matching happens on your device against a database bundled inside the extension. No account, no analytics, no tracking, no data ever transmitted. Full policy: see the Privacy Practices tab. Fresh data. The brand database is rebuilt weekly from PETA's three lists and refreshed annually from Leaping Bunny, with automated anomaly gates that block suspicious changes from ever reaching you. Report an error. See something wrong? One click in the side panel copies a prefilled report (page, brand, verdict shown) for you to send — nothing is sent automatically. *Note: "cruelty-free" has no single legal definition in the US. This extension reports brand-level certification and list status from PETA and Leaping Bunny and always names the source — it does not certify products itself.*
