Overview

Detects and blocks sites that force cross-domain tabs or windows to open, using local processing only.

Cross-Domain Tab Guard is a lightweight Chrome extension that helps stop sites from opening unwanted tabs or windows to different domains. It is not a general ad blocker and does not remove cookie banners, overlays, or page modals. It focuses on one specific annoyance: forced cross-domain new tabs and windows. Features: - Blocks cross-domain window.open() attempts - Closes unexpected cross-domain tabs created by a page - Normal mode allows links you explicitly click - Strict mode blocks cross-domain new tabs more aggressively - 5-minute pause - Per-tab badge count - Allowlist, export, and import - Local storage only; blocked history stores domains, not full URLs
