CrewSelector is a Chrome DevTools extension for quality engineers, test automation engineers, and web developers who need reliable selectors for UI automation. Privacy & local processing: CrewSelector processes the page you actively inspect to generate and validate selectors and locator-health evidence. Website content, form-related element metadata, and browsing context needed for these developer-facing features are processed locally in the current release and are not sent to CrewSelector analytics or backend servers. What CrewSelector does • Inspect elements directly from Chrome DevTools • Generate multiple selector strategies for the selected element • Validate selectors against the live page and show match evidence • Score locator quality and explain risk signals • Compare alternatives and surface the strongest recommendation • Measure empirical stability through controlled reload checks • Support explicit Human Review before recommendation use • Provide recommendation-only Healing intelligence when a locator fails • Run a read-only Page Locator Audit with coverage and locator-health results • Let you control selector outputs through persistent settings • Support Light, Dark, and Auto themes Selector outputs CrewSelector can produce semantic and diagnostic selector outputs including Role, Label, Test ID, ID, Name, Placeholder, Text, Attribute, CSS, Relative XPath, Indexed XPath, Absolute XPath, JavaScript Path, jQuery, Class Name, Tag Name, Link Text, and Partial Link Text. Advanced or positional outputs are treated as fallback or diagnostic options. They do not automatically receive the same trust as semantic locator candidates. Evidence, not hidden automation CrewSelector keeps quality, runtime validation, risk, stability, and identity evidence separate. A high score does not silently authorize changes. Human Review remains explicit. Healing is recommendation-only in this release: CrewSelector does not automatically modify source code, generate or apply patches, or execute self-healing changes. Page Locator Audit Run a bounded, read-only audit of the current page to see locator coverage across four health bands: • Excellent • Acceptable • Weak • No stable locator Coverage is derived from validated locator evidence and does not modify the page. Privacy-first architecture CrewSelector is local-first. In the current release: • No developer-controlled analytics or telemetry is used • Inspected page content is not sent to CrewSelector backend servers • No remote executable code is loaded • Preferences, selector settings, saved selector state, and Human Review state are stored locally • Live password values, authentication tokens, full DOM content, and secret-like testing attributes are intentionally excluded from the DevTools panel workflow • Data is not sold to advertisers or data brokers and is not used for personalized advertising CrewSelector uses page access only to provide its disclosed DevTools selector inspection, validation, stability, and audit features. Early Access CrewSelector 0.1.0 is the first public Early Access release.
