Overview
Drag-select a region of the current tab (or record the whole tab), record up to 25 seconds, and save an optimized animated GIF.
CrewGIF turns any part of a web page into an animated GIF in a couple of clicks. Drag a box around what you want — a loading spinner, a hover animation, a bug you need to show a teammate — or grab the whole tab, and CrewGIF records it and hands you a finished GIF you can save or paste straight into Slack, GitHub, Jira, or an email. HOW IT WORKS 1. Click the CrewGIF icon. 2. Choose Record region and drag a selection, or Record full tab. 3. Stop whenever you like — the Stop button, the on-page pill, or Alt+Shift+S. Recording also ends on its own at 25 seconds. 4. Save the GIF to your Downloads folder or copy it to the clipboard. FEATURES • Region or full-tab recording — pick exactly what gets captured. • Adjustable frame rate (8–15 fps) and output width (480–1600 px). • Records up to 25 seconds. • Optimized output: a single global color palette plus inter-frame differencing, so only the pixels that actually changed are stored. Static backgrounds cost almost nothing. • Copy straight to the clipboard, or save to Downloads. • Keyboard shortcut to stop recording (remappable in Chrome's shortcut settings). • An on-page countdown pill and a dotted border show exactly what is being recorded — both drawn outside the capture area, so they never appear in the GIF. • Works in light and dark mode. OPEN SOURCE Built on Manifest V3 with no third-party services. GIF assembly uses gifenc (MIT).
