CosmetiqWise
Overview
Reads the ingredient list on a product page and explains each ingredient in plain language, flagging only what matters to you.
CosmetiqWise turns the wall of Latin and chemistry on a beauty label into plain language, right where you shop. Open a product page at your usual stores and CosmetiqWise finds the ingredient list and explains it in a side panel: what each ingredient is and the job it does in the formula. No copy-pasting, no searching INCI names, no chemistry degree. What it does - Explains every ingredient in one clear line, with a tap-through detail view for the common ones (what it is, where it comes from, what it does). - Flags only what matters to you. Choose the concerns you care about, from your own allergens and pregnancy to fragrance, sulfates, silicones, or microplastics, and CosmetiqWise pins those to the top whenever they appear and stays quiet on everything else. - Shows regulatory facts plainly. When an ingredient is limited or restricted in the EU, Canada, or the US, you see it as a neutral fact with a short, plain reason why. - Works on US "Drug Facts" sunscreens and thousands of beauty, skincare, haircare, and makeup pages that list ingredients. What it will never do - No safety scores, no "toxic" or "clean" grades, no single verdict on a product. There is no universal safe or unsafe ingredient, so we do not pretend otherwise. - No fear. Restrictions are stated as facts, never as alarm. For pregnancy and similar notes we say to check with your provider, once. - No guessing. If an ingredient is not in our reference data, we say so rather than make something up. Private by design - Everything runs on your device. It reads the page you are already viewing and looks ingredients up locally. - No account, no sign-in, and it works offline (the full ingredient dictionary ships inside the extension). - It makes no network requests of its own and sends nothing to any server. Your shopping is your business. How to use it 1. Shop as usual. Open the CosmetiqWise side panel on a product page. 2. Read the list in plain language, and tap any ingredient to go deeper. 3. Set your concerns once. CosmetiqWise flags only those, on every page. If a page hides its list behind an "Ingredients" tab or dropdown, open it and CosmetiqWise will pick it up. You can also highlight an ingredient list yourself (or right-click it, even in a PDF) and choose "Analyze ingredients with CosmetiqWise." CosmetiqWise is a desktop Chrome extension. Ingredient data is derived from public regulatory sources (EU CosIng, Health Canada, US FDA). It is an educational tool, not medical advice.
