The image you provided is of a corn plant (also known as maize) in the fruiting stage. The corn cobs are covered with green husks and have brown silks (the female part of the pistil) emerging from the tips. These corn cobs look almost fully developed and are probably ready for harvest. A popular food crop, the stems are upright and grow from 1.5 to 3 m high. Each plant usually produces 1 to 2 main corn cobs. Corn kernels are used for cooking, baking, pressing for oil or as animal feed.
