Overview

Select cells, rows, columns or whole tables on a web page and copy them in the format you need.

Copytables copies HTML tables from web pages — the whole table, or just the part you select. Selecting Hold Alt and drag over the cells you want; Alt+Ctrl takes whole columns, and Shift adds to what is already selected (Option and Option+Command on a Mac). Which key does what is up to you, and rows or whole tables can go on a key as well. Capture mode goes one step further and selects with a plain click, without any key at all. The page context menu takes the row, the column or the table under the pointer, and walks from one table on the page to the next. Copying The selection goes to the clipboard as styled text that keeps the colors and the fonts of the page, or as a plain table that carries none of them. It can just as well be copied for a spreadsheet, as an aligned Markdown table, or as the HTML behind the table. Ctrl+C does it, or a shortcut of your own, or the toolbar popup, which has a button per format. Formats you never use can be switched off and disappear from the popup and the menus. Infobox Tells you how many numbers are in the selection and what they add up to, along with their average and the range they cover. Keyboard shortcuts Copying, the capture modes and the walk from table to table can each be put on a shortcut. None are assigned out of the box. The options page holds the rest — the mouse behaviour, the infobox and the way numbers are read. Copytables works with actual HTML tables. Pages that only look tabular, and online spreadsheets, are not supported. The extension runs locally and does not communicate over the network.
