Overview

CopperOS is an Open-Source Agentic Browser Extension that lets AI perform tasks on your browser.

Tell it what you need and watch it read the page, click, type and move between sites, signed in to the accounts you already use. No new browser to switch to, and no copying and pasting between tabs. It starts on the page you're on. WHAT YOU CAN ASK IT • Research: "Compare the pricing of these three tools and tell me the cheapest plan with SSO." • Forms: "Fill in this application with my details." It asks you for anything it doesn't know. • Job hunting: "Find remote product designer roles posted this week and add the good ones to my Google Sheet." • Everyday lookups: "Find the support email for this company." "What does this page say about refunds?" • Spreadsheets: it reads and fills in Google Sheets with your own Google login. TWO WAYS TO RUN IT The first time you open CopperOS, it asks where the agent should run. You can switch at any time in Settings, and each keeps its own chats. CLOUD — the quick way Sign in with Google, add an API key for the AI model you want (OpenRouter or OpenAI), and start. Nothing to install. Free during the beta: you only pay your AI provider for what the model uses. THIS COMPUTER — everything stays with you Run the free, open-source CopperOS broker yourself with one command. It works with OpenRouter, OpenAI, or a free local model through Ollama. Setup takes about 5 minutes: https://copper.jassydev.com/setup HOW IT WORKS • The side panel shows which site it will work on, and it starts in the tab you're on. • It reads pages through Chrome's accessibility tree — the same structure screen readers use — and takes a screenshot only when that isn't enough. • It clicks and types with real mouse and keyboard input, so sites respond the way they do for you. • Every step shows in the side panel as it happens: Look, Click, Type. Turn on the live view to watch the tab without switching to it. • The tabs it works in go into their own CopperOS tab group, and the tab it's driving is marked with a frame and its own cursor. • When it needs something only you know, it asks you, one short question at a time. • Tell it a fact once, like the email you apply with, and it remembers it for next time. YOU STAY IN CHARGE • Approvals: for each chat, choose Ask before every action, Ask before submits (the default), or Never ask. When it asks, the card says exactly what it's about to click or type. For anything important, choose Ask before every action. • Supervisor: on long tasks, a supervisor checks in every few steps to make sure it's still doing what you asked, and steers it back if it drifts. Before you send a task, press Supervisor to give it rules of your own, like "only jobs posted this week, never use LinkedIn, stop after 10". • Only your details: before it types anything about you into a form, it checks that you actually said it, in the chat or in a fact you asked it to remember. It won't make up an address or copy one from the page. • Stop means stop: one button ends a task mid-step. It only ever closes tabs it opened itself. • It never reads what's typed in password fields. (In the cloud, the supervisor and the details check are always on. On your own computer, they need a Jev key.) YOUR DATA • In the cloud, your chats, memories and settings are stored in CopperOS's service on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Your API key is encrypted and never sent back to your browser. Screenshots are not kept. • To carry out a task, the conversation goes to the AI provider you chose, and to Jev (typesafe.ai), which runs the supervisor and safety checks. • Delete your account from Settings at any time. Your chats, memories, settings, keys and sign-in are deleted straight away. • On your own computer, the extension talks only to the broker on your machine, and the developer receives nothing. • No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and your data is never sold. Privacy policy: https://copper.jassydev.com/privacy WHAT YOU NEED • Chrome 116 or newer. • An API key from OpenRouter (one key gives you hundreds of models) or OpenAI. On your own computer, you can use a local model in Ollama instead. • For the cloud, a Google account to sign in. For your own computer, Node.js 20 or newer. GOOD TO KNOW • While CopperOS works in a tab, Chrome shows "CopperOS started debugging this browser". That's expected: it's how the extension reads pages and clicks and types reliably. Click Cancel on the banner to end it at any time. • In the cloud, a task works for up to 15 minutes at a time. Say "continue" and it picks up where it left off. • CopperOS is in beta, and AI makes mistakes. Keep approvals on for anything that matters, and check its work before you rely on it for payments or other high-stakes actions. WHY IT ASKS FOR THESE PERMISSIONS • Access to all websites, and the debugger: it works on whichever site you ask it to, and uses Chrome's debugging protocol to read pages and send real clicks and keystrokes. It only acts in tabs that a task you started is working in. • Tabs and tab groups: to open the pages a task needs and keep them together. • Identity: to sign in to the cloud with your Google account. • Storage: to remember your sign-in, your settings, and the task on screen. OPEN SOURCE The extension, the broker and the cloud service are all open source under the MIT license: https://github.com/Jesse0502/CopperOS HELP AND FEEDBACK • Setup guide: https://copper.jassydev.com/setup • Support and FAQ: https://copper.jassydev.com/support • Ideas or bugs? In the extension, open Settings → Send a suggestion. It comes straight to the developer.
