Overview
Record, auto-edit, annotate and pan & zoom screencasts in your browser. Add webcam and narration, live or later. AI is optional.
Record your screen, and Cool Easy Cut turns the take into a finished video: trimmed, annotated, with pans and zooms on the parts that matter. Everything happens in your browser. There's no account to make, nothing gets uploaded and there's no cloud rendering. QUICK BY DESIGN Record a screen, a window or a tab from a small floating controller. When you stop, the take opens in the editor. Cool Easy Cut can draft pans and zooms for you from where you clicked while recording, so you start from an edit that's mostly done. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Auto-edit: draft camera moves from the clicks you made while recording, then adjust them • Pan & zoom: right-click the thing the camera should look at, or draw a box around it • Annotate: boxes, arrows, spotlights, blur area (follows scrolls) and captions, placed by right-clicking the spot you mean • Cut: trim and remove the middle of a take in one move, add transitions, change speed and hold the last frame • Insert: freeze a frame, or add a picture or title card • Import: already have a video? Bring it in and edit it the same way. There's no click log for an imported video, but you can use AI to perform some basic annotations, pans & zooms, and cuts from analysis of the frames. • Webcam: a bubble next to the screen, or a section filmed straight to camera, recorded during the take or added afterwards • Narration: speak while you capture, or narrate afterwards over the edit, with or without the webcam • Captions: timed word by word, and exportable as SRT or WebVTT • Export: an MP4 rendered in your browser, plus a matching ffmpeg command if you'd rather render elsewhere AI IS OPTIONAL Every core feature works without AI. If you want extra help, connect your own key (OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini) or a model running on your own computer. AI can then: • draft a voiceover script for you to edit line by line, then speak it in an AI voice • suggest an edit based on what you clicked during the take • transcribe your narration into captions • write up the video as notes or a tutorial Nothing is sent anywhere until you set AI up. Requests go straight from your browser to the provider you choose, never through us. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT • Your recordings and edits stay in your browser on your computer • No account, no sign-in and no tracking. Purchases go through our checkout provider, Stripe, under its own privacy policy • Click following records which element you clicked and where it was on the page. It never records what you type, form contents or password fields • Your microphone is on only while you're recording narration FREE TO TRY Installing is free, and so is recording and editing. You pay only to export. The free tier gives you 10 exports at up to 1280px wide with a small watermark, which is enough to see whether the workflow suits you. A lifetime licence is £99 + tax, paid once with no subscription. Your licence key is checked offline, so it doesn't need an account or an internet connection. GOOD TO KNOW • Needs Chrome 116 or later on desktop • Recordings live in this browser profile only. Export or save anything you want to keep before you uninstall, because removing the extension deletes them • Closing the controller window stops a recording, but minimising it is safe
