Conversio DataSpy
Overview
Watches outgoing GA4 hits and shows every event as it fires, with parameters and dataLayer context.
Checking that analytics events fire correctly usually means watching a network tab, decoding query strings by hand and hoping nothing was missed. It is slow, and it is easy to conclude a tag works when it does not. DataSpy shows the events as they happen. Every GA4 hit a page sends appears in a side panel, with its parameters read out in full and the dataLayer push behind it alongside. What it does: - Captures GA4 events as they are sent, including sites using server-side tagging on a first-party domain - Shows the dataLayer pushes behind each event, so you can see what the tag received and what it sent - Decodes the consent state on every hit, so you can tell whether Analytics will process it - Groups events by page, so a journey across several pages stays readable - Reads Conversio experience and event values from session storage and checks them against the events being sent - Flags interaction events that fire before their experience event, and codes recorded in storage that never reached GA4 - Counts how many times each event code fired, so a double fire is visible - Detects A/B testing tools on the page, with an option to block one in the current tab and compare behaviour with and without it - Clears cookies and stored values for the current site, so a session can be retested from a clean state - Tells you when Google Tag Manager cannot be reached, rather than showing an empty panel Everything stays on your machine. The extension reads what the page sends and keeps it in local session storage for display. Nothing is transmitted anywhere. Built by Conversio for experimentation and analytics QA.
