Conversation Framer
Overview
Shape your AI conversations with a cognitive constitution. Reduce sycophancy, improve scaffolding, protect your thinking.
Conversation Framer is designed to give you agency over how AI tools respond to you. Many existing AI assistants are designed to maximize engagement, which may lead to sycophancy, tangents, and unnecessary elaboration. Conversation Framer allows you to set parameters before your conversations that can help limit these tendencies. Conversation Framer allows you to choose a pre-set profile or customize your own settings: - Thinking Partner — scaffolds your reasoning rather than just answering - Critical Reviewer — challenges your ideas and provides well-reasoned opposing views - Efficient Assistant — concise, direct, without preamble - Custom — set your own parameters Conversation Framer will automatically inject your customized constitution into the first message you have in Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini. It also allows you to copy and paste your constitution if you wish to use it somewhere else. Parameters include: - Sycophancy resistance - Response length - Scaffolding vs. answering - Pushback type - Steelmanning - Certainty calibration Settings are saved for each individual LLM. No data is collected or transmitted; everything stays in your browser. This tool is built by a researcher at Virginia Tech studying how technology affects human cognition.
