Overview

Show live driving time with traffic for multiple destinations (e.g. Work <-> Home) using Google Maps.

Commute Times with Traffic shows how long your regular journeys actually take right now — including live traffic — without opening Google Maps. Save any number of routes once, then click the toolbar icon to see them all at a glance. WHAT IT SHOWS • Live travel time with traffic, plus the normal (no-traffic) time and distance • A traffic badge per route: Light, Moderate or Heavy • One click to open the route in Google Maps • A toolbar badge with your commute time, so you can read it without opening anything • Choose what the badge shows: closest route to you, first route, shortest or longest trip BEST TIME TO LEAVE When a route is jammed, the extension looks at Google's historical traffic for the hours ahead and tells you when to leave to hit light traffic — for example "Leave at 8:45 PM, about 58 mins, saves ~12 mins vs now". You choose how far ahead to look (1 to 12 hours). WHERE AM I Click the locate button and the extension works out which saved route starts nearest to you, puts it at the top and highlights it. At work you see Work to Home first; at home you see Home to Work first. SETUP (ONE TIME, ABOUT TWO MINUTES) 1. Create a free Google Maps Platform API key and enable the Distance Matrix API. Google includes a monthly free credit that comfortably covers personal commuting use. 2. Open the extension's settings and paste the key. There is a Test button to confirm it works. 3. Add your routes: a label such as "Work to Home", Point A and Point B, and a travel mode. Addresses, place names and coordinates all work. PRIVACY Your routes and API key are stored in your own Chrome sync storage and stay between your browser and Google's Distance Matrix API. Nothing is sent to the developer — there is no developer server, no analytics and no tracking. The extension requests your location only when you press the locate button. NOTES • Traffic data is provided by Google for driving mode; walking, cycling and transit show the normal duration. • You need your own Google Maps API key. The extension requires it because traffic data is billed by Google to that key. • Available in English.
