Commenter for BBC News
Overview
The BBC removed comments from most articles. This extension brings them back — so the conversations that matter can still happen!
Commenter for BBC News brings back the comment section the BBC removed. Why this exists: In 2021, the BBC quietly removed comments from the vast majority of their articles. Important conversations — about politics, science, health, the environment — lost their public forum overnight. This extension restores that space. How it works: Comments are stored on a decentralized network, not on BBC servers. There's no central authority that can delete or censor them. You pick a display name and start talking — no account, no email, no phone number required. Features: - Comment on any BBC News or Sport article - Reply to other readers in threaded conversations - React with emoji reactions (👍, ❤️, 😂, and more) - Block or trust other users to curate your own experience - Built-in content filtering keeps conversations civil - Report spam or abuse — community-moderated, not corporate-moderated - Collapse threads to keep discussions tidy - Your identity is a pseudonym — no real name needed - Backup and restore your key to keep your history across devices Privacy: Your comments are pseudonymous. No analytics, no tracking, no data collection. Your reading habits are never shared with anyone. Not affiliated with the BBC: This is an independent community project. The BBC has no involvement and bears no responsibility for comments posted through this extension.
