Close Teams Meeting Tab

Open Teams meetings on Windows and macOS and close the launcher tab after focus leaves the browser.

Open Teams meetings in the desktop app and close the browser tabs left behind. Close Teams Meeting Tab opens supported meeting links in Microsoft Teams. If focus leaves the browser within 30 seconds of a launch attempt, it starts a five-second countdown and closes the meeting's launcher tab. • Return to the browser or click Keep tab open to cancel the countdown. • Switching tabs or navigating away cancels automatic closing. • Click Open Teams again to retry a launch. • If the tab stays open, confirm that Teams opened, then click Teams opened — close this tab. Works with Chrome and Microsoft Edge on Windows and macOS. Requires the Teams desktop app. Supports Teams launcher links, meetup-join links, and numeric meeting links on teams.microsoft.com, teams.live.com, and teams.cloud.microsoft. Automatic closing depends on browser focus. The browser cannot confirm that Teams opened or that you joined. Switching to another app or a system dialog can trigger the countdown even if the launch failed. Allow the browser's Open Microsoft Teams prompt when shown. To join in the browser instead, click Keep tab open before choosing the page's web option. Meeting links are passed to the browser's Teams protocol handler.
