Overview
Record browser audio, save screenshots and selected text, then review and export to Marmot Vox for Mac.
Bring browser conversations into Marmot Vox for Mac. Choose what you want to do: record a browser tab, record a microphone-only voice note, import an audio file, or save selected text. The recording path guides you through preparation, recording and review. RECORD AND REVIEW • Choose your microphone and confirm recording permission. • Record audio from a chosen HTTPS tab, with an optional microphone. • Check the audio meters, pause and resume, or mute your recording microphone. • Capture the visible source tab during recording and add notes. Screenshots are taken only when you request them. • Listen to saved recordings, rename them, and download WAV with their saved context. KEEP CONTEXT TOGETHER Bring explicitly selected text from a web page, review its source, and save a note. Review selected Outlook email or WhatsApp Web messages before sending them to Marmot. Import audio files that you have downloaded; the extension does not fetch messages or voice notes from your inbox. CONTINUE ON MAC Download files and import them in Marmot Vox, or use the optional, separately installed local Mac helper. Transcription, summaries, projects, people and AI are handled by the Mac app after import, according to the app’s settings and subscription. A successful send means local handoff; check the import in Marmot. OPTIONAL PIN PROTECTION Start recording now. A PIN lock is optional. Use 6–12 digits. Save your PIN in your password manager. Without a PIN, anyone using this Chrome profile can open your saved recordings. You can add a PIN later in Settings. Existing password-protected copies keep their password until you authenticate and change protection in Settings. A forgotten PIN or password cannot be reset to unlock existing browser copies. Keep important recordings in your Mac Library or as downloaded files. Downloads, helper files and native Mac copies are outside this browser vault and need separate protection. Sending or downloading keeps your browser copy; deletion does not sync between copies. Use the extension’s delete controls: clearing history or cache alone does not reliably delete extension data. Export important content before removing the extension or profile. The extension includes no analytics, advertising SDK, remote executable code or cloud AI uploads. Native-app AI and synchronization follow the Mac app’s own settings. BEFORE YOU RECORD Desktop Chrome 116 or later is required. Record is the main workspace; Saved contains your recordings and selected messages, with notes and screenshots kept beside their recording. The default is one recording. Under “More than one meeting at the same time?”, enable two separate Chrome-tab recordings, each up to two hours, with individual controls and saved files. Only the chosen tab is captured; this is not all Mac system audio. Your microphone is off by default for tab capture and can be added to one unmuted recording at a time. Use headphones to keep other meetings from leaking through speakers into the microphone. Chrome must remain running. Check permissions, participant consent and both audio sources before relying on a recording. Meeting-app mute and recording-microphone mute are separate. Standalone desktop-app calls are not captured. Protected pages and managed-browser policies may limit capture. The extension does not provide live transcription in Chrome, synchronize inboxes, send replies or automatically import into the Mac library. A compatible Marmot Vox Mac app is required for native import and processing.
