)Overview
Licensed local-first clipboard workspaces with privacy controls, analytics, text tools, and device-to-device WebRTC sharing.
ClipVault is a private, local-first clipboard manager built for people who copy text all day and need a faster way to find, organize, reuse, clean, and securely transfer it. Instead of letting useful text disappear after the next copy, ClipVault creates a searchable clipboard workspace inside Chrome. Save copied text, links, code, email addresses, phone numbers, one-time codes, JSON, HTML, colors, and other structured content in one clear dashboard without sending your clipboard history to a ClipVault cloud account. Whether you are a developer moving between code snippets, a designer collecting colors, a marketer working with links and campaign copy, a support agent reusing responses, a researcher gathering references, a student saving notes, or a busy professional handling repeated information, ClipVault turns the ordinary clipboard into a practical personal workspace. YOUR CLIPBOARD, ORGANIZED ClipVault records supported text copied in Chrome and places it into a clean, searchable history. It is designed to capture copies from normal webpages as well as browser-level locations such as the address bar. Each saved clip can include useful source context, including the originating website, domain, page title, and time, when that information is available. This helps you understand where a clip came from instead of looking at an unexplained wall of text later. Your history is presented as readable cards with clear content-type labels, timestamps, source information, folder details, and quick actions. Copy an item again with one click, pin something important, mark it as a favorite, move it into a folder, open a detailed preview, transform the text, share selected clips, or move unwanted items to Trash. ClipVault is built for text-based clipboard work. It does not attempt to become a screenshot gallery, file manager, password manager, or cloud drive. Its focus is fast and reliable text capture, organization, reuse, and local productivity. SMART CONTENT DETECTION Copied content is automatically classified so different kinds of information are easier to recognize and filter. ClipVault can identify common content types such as: * Plain text and notes * Website links and URLs * Email addresses * Phone numbers * One-time codes and short numeric codes * Source code * JSON data * HTML markup * Color values * Other structured text Type labels make a mixed history easier to scan. Developers can quickly find code or JSON, designers can return to saved colors, and everyday users can separate links, contacts, codes, and ordinary text. Automatic classification happens locally in the extension and does not require sending copied content to an AI service or remote classification server. FAST SEARCH, FILTERING, AND SORTING A clipboard history is useful only when information can be found quickly. ClipVault provides instant search across saved clips and can also search by source domain. Search for a remembered phrase, part of a URL, a function name, a customer detail, a color, or the website where the information was copied. Filter the dashboard by content type, folder, pinned status, favorites, workspace, or Trash. Sort clips by newest, oldest, most copied, alphabetical order, largest, or smallest. The dashboard can automatically load more content while scrolling, or you can disable automatic loading and use a manual Load More button. The popup provides a compact view for quick access without leaving the current page. Search recent history, switch between common types, choose the active workspace, pause recording, and open the full manager when deeper organization is needed. PINNED ITEMS, FAVORITES, AND FOLDERS Pin clips that must remain easy to reach. Mark frequently reused clips as favorites. Create folders for projects, clients, topics, campaigns, classes, development tasks, or any structure that matches your work. Folder names appear with clips, making the dashboard easier to understand at a glance. ClipVault also includes Trash so an accidentally removed clip does not disappear immediately. Restore items when needed, delete individual entries permanently, or empty Trash. Existing history can be cleaned without forcing you to start over. MULTIPLE WORKSPACES Separate different areas of your clipboard activity with workspaces. Keep personal clips apart from client work, development, research, support, study, or content creation. Each workspace can maintain its own clips, folders, sequential queue, analytics context, and organization. The active workspace can be changed from the popup or dashboard. New clipboard items are saved into the active workspace, helping prevent unrelated content from becoming mixed together. Workspaces are especially useful when one browser is used for several projects or roles throughout the day. INTELLIGENT DUPLICATE HANDLING Repeated copies can quickly make a clipboard history noisy. ClipVault provides three duplicate modes: * Merge duplicates and update the copy count * Keep every copied instance as a separate entry * Ignore repeated copies Duplicate matching uses normalized text instead of relying only on a basic character-for-character comparison. Extra spaces, line-ending differences, and common URL variations are handled more intelligently. You can also scan existing history and clean duplicate groups, retaining the strongest saved item while moving unnecessary copies to Trash. PRIVACY BLUR AND SENSITIVE-TEXT DETECTION ClipVault includes optional privacy tools for text that looks like a private key, credential, API key, access token, or similar secret. Sensitive-looking content can be marked and manually blurred. Automatic blurring is available but is turned off by default, allowing you to decide whether new secret-looking clips should be hidden automatically. Email addresses and phone numbers are not automatically treated as secrets and are not automatically blurred simply because they are contact details. Ordinary numeric text is also not classified as sensitive solely for containing numbers. This avoids hiding normal contacts and everyday clipboard content while keeping focused detection for stronger secret patterns. When a clip is blurred, its content is concealed in the interface until you choose to reveal it. Privacy blur is a visual protection for casual viewing; it is not encryption and should not be treated as a replacement for a dedicated password manager. Highly sensitive credentials should still be stored and managed with purpose-built security software. LOCAL-FIRST BY DESIGN Clipboard history, folders, workspaces, preferences, text transformations, productivity metrics, and related ClipVault data are stored locally in the browser. ClipVault does not upload your general clipboard history to a ClipVault cloud database. There is no ClipVault account required for storing or searching your clips, and your history is not shared between devices automatically. Because storage is local, your data remains tied to the Chrome profile and device where it was created. Clearing extension storage, removing the browser profile, resetting Chrome, or uninstalling the extension may permanently remove the history. The amount that can be stored depends on the browser and available device storage, so “unlimited history” means ClipVault does not impose a small artificial item limit; normal browser and device storage limits still apply. You can blacklist websites where ClipVault should not capture copied text. Common financial domains can be included by default, and you can add or remove domains in Settings. Incognito capture is disabled by default and requires both the ClipVault setting and Chrome’s extension-level permission for incognito access. Recording can be paused for five minutes, ten minutes, thirty minutes, one hour, until manually resumed, or resumed immediately. This gives you a quick way to stop collection temporarily without deleting the extension or changing multiple settings. LOCAL PRODUCTIVITY ANALYTICS ClipVault includes an optional analytics dashboard that helps you understand how your clipboard is being used. Metrics are calculated locally and are designed for personal productivity, not advertising or behavioral profiling. The dashboard can show information such as total clips, recent activity, content-type breakdowns, top source domains, frequently reused clips, duplicate groups, large clips, workspace activity, folder activity, text-tool usage, characters pasted, estimated time saved, completed sequential queues, and reuse patterns. Local analytics can be turned off. Sensitive clips can be excluded, and selected workspaces can be excluded from analytics. The assumed typing speed used for time-saved estimates can also be adjusted. Turning analytics off prevents new productivity events from being recorded; it does not affect the normal clipboard history itself. Existing analytics can be reset from Settings. POWERFUL TEXT TOOLS Copied text often needs cleaning before it can be reused. ClipVault includes local text tools that let you transform a saved clip without visiting a separate website or sending the content to an online formatter. Available workflows include: * Clean pasted text and remove unwanted spacing * Change letter case, including common title, sentence, upper, lower, camel, and related formats * Escape text for developer-friendly formats * Convert lines into quoted or structured lists * Find and replace text * Use regular expressions for advanced replacement * Clean and reorganize lines * Remove duplicate lines * Extract useful values such as emails, links, or pattern matches * Save extraction presets for repeated tasks * Preview changes before saving * Save a result as a new clip * Replace the original clip * Save extracted results separately Text processing happens locally. A two-panel editor shows the original and preview so changes can be reviewed before they affect saved history. Invalid expressions and unsupported transformations are reported instead of silently damaging the clip. SEQUENTIAL COPY QUEUE For repetitive tasks, add clips to a sequential queue. Arrange items in the order they are needed, select the current item, move forward or backward, and use keyboard commands to progress through a prepared sequence. This is helpful when transferring a known set of values between approved applications, following a checklist, entering test data, or reusing a sequence of responses. The queue is user-controlled and does not automatically fill forms or click page elements. It prepares the next text item for your workflow while leaving final actions in your hands. DEVICE-TO-DEVICE WEBRTC SHARING ClipVault can transfer selected text clips between active browsers using WebRTC. The sender creates a portable connection code, the recipient opens ClipVault Live Share on another device, and both sides exchange the required connection information. The recipient reviews an import preview and chooses whether to accept or reject the transfer. Transferred content is sent through the live peer connection rather than saved to a ClipVault cloud storage server. The transfer interface supports progress, duplicate handling, target workspace and folder selection, sensitive-content warnings, completion confirmation, and a clear final status. After a confirmed transfer, an OK button closes the share window. WebRTC connections depend on network conditions. Direct connections may fail when restrictive firewalls, carrier networks, corporate networks, or NAT configurations block peer-to-peer traffic. ClipVault therefore supports an optional user-configured TURN relay. TURN details remain in the local browser settings. A relay forwards encrypted WebRTC packets but may process connection metadata and network traffic according to the selected provider’s policies. ClipVault includes a TURN test and optional relay-only mode for troubleshooting. Portable connection codes can be exchanged between different computers and Chrome profiles. Both active pages must remain open long enough to establish the live session and complete the transfer. ClipVault shares text only and does not request camera or microphone access. ONE-TIME LICENSE ClipVault is unlocked with a one-time lifetime license purchased through Polar. After checkout, copy the supplied license key and enter it in ClipVault Settings. The extension uses Polar’s public customer license API to activate and validate the key. No private Polar API token is embedded in ClipVault, and no ClipVault webhook or custom licensing server is required. The full saved license key is visible in Settings and can be copied, revalidated, deactivated, or removed. Device activation limits are controlled by the license benefit configured in Polar. ClipVault validates the key periodically and provides a limited offline grace period after a successful online validation. An internet connection is required for initial activation and occasional revalidation. The extension remains locked until a valid key issued for the correct ClipVault product and organization is accepted. Existing local clips are not intentionally deleted when the extension is locked; they become accessible again after valid activation. CLEAR, CONSISTENT INTERFACE ClipVault uses a focused dark interface with solid colors, clear contrast, consistent buttons, responsive layouts, and readable typography. The dashboard provides more space for organization and analytics, while the popup is optimized for quick actions. Code cards use a readable monospace presentation without decorative blue strips or distracting gradient effects. Pinned items remain visually clean, and confirmation buttons keep their labels centered. The interface includes loading states, empty states, error messages, previews, confirmation dialogs, keyboard shortcuts, and immediate feedback for common actions. Optimistic updates make frequent actions such as copying, pinning, favoriting, deleting, and moving clips feel responsive while local storage updates complete. PERMISSIONS AND TRANSPARENCY ClipVault requires clipboard permissions to read supported copied text and write selected clips back to the clipboard. Storage permission is used for local history and settings. Tab and broad website access allow the extension to recognize copy events, capture available source context, open its dashboard and share pages, and detect copies made from browser-level locations such as the address bar. Offscreen access supports the browser-level clipboard watcher, and alarms support timed pause recovery and periodic license validation. ClipVault does not request camera, microphone, audio-capture, or video-capture permissions. Normal clipboard history is not uploaded to a ClipVault server. Network communication occurs when you open the Polar checkout, activate or validate a license, use WebRTC sharing, connect through STUN infrastructure, or configure a TURN provider. Browser extensions cannot provide absolute protection against someone deliberately modifying an unpacked copy of client-side source code. License enforcement is designed for normal customer activation and usage, while Polar remains the authority for whether a key is granted, expired, revoked, or over its activation limit. BUILD A BETTER CLIPBOARD WORKFLOW The system clipboard is temporary by design, but much of the text copied during a normal day remains useful. ClipVault gives that text a searchable place, useful structure, focused privacy controls, local tools, and a safe way to move selected clips between active devices. It helps reduce repeated typing, recover recently used information, keep project material separated, and turn scattered copies into an organized personal resource. Install ClipVault, activate your lifetime license, and make every useful copy easier to find and reuse.
