ClipGuard - Secret Leak Prevention
Overview
Prevents accidental pasting of API keys, tokens, passwords, and secrets into public places like GitHub, Slack, and forums.
Never leak a secret by accident again. ClipGuard detects API keys, tokens, passwords, webhooks, private keys, database connection strings, and other sensitive values when you paste them into a webpage. It warns you before the secret reaches a public issue, chat, forum, or form. WHAT CLIPGUARD DETECTS • AI API keys, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, and Hugging Face • Cloud credentials, including AWS access keys • GitHub and GitLab access tokens • Stripe keys and webhook secrets • Slack and Discord webhook URLs • JWTs and private keys • MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis connection strings • Password and credential assignments HOW IT WORKS 1. ClipGuard checks paste events directly in your browser. 2. On high-risk sites such as GitHub, Slack, Discord, Stack Overflow, and Reddit, a detected secret is blocked and a warning is shown. 3. On other sites, ClipGuard displays a warning so you can review the text. 4. You can enable or disable protection and choose warning behavior from the extension popup. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Detection happens entirely on your device. • Pasted text is never transmitted to a server. • No analytics, tracking, or account is required. • Only settings and prevention statistics are stored locally in Chrome. ClipGuard is a lightweight safety net for developers, maintainers, technical teams, and anyone who handles sensitive credentials in the browser.
