Clip Capture is a Chrome extension that detects savable media playing on web pages and allows users to save it locally to their device through explicit user action. For HLS, Clip Capture retrieves compatible playlists and media segments and, when necessary, combines and processes them locally on the user's device before saving. For DASH, Clip Capture processes compatible static DASH/fMP4 content. Directly delivered media such as MP4, WebM, M4A, MP3, and AAC is displayed as a save candidate when it can be detected. For certain MediaSource-based playback that cannot be saved through ordinary network detection alone, Clip Capture can locally capture media data during playback only when the user explicitly starts Capture mode. Some media may not be detected or saved depending on the website, delivery method, codec, browser specifications, or other technical conditions. Privacy Clip Capture does not use external services for advertising, analytics, behavioral tracking, or telemetry. Media detection, analysis, combining, processing, and saving are performed within Chrome and on the user's device. Network communication with the original media servers occurs when retrieving playlists, video, audio, media segments, and other data required for the media selected for saving. Clip Capture does not include functionality that sends browsing history, media data, captured media data, or similar information to servers operated by the developer. Information required for an active capture or recording session is stored temporarily in Chrome's session storage and is deleted when the session ends or after its expiration period. Persistently stored settings are primarily local preferences such as the selected display theme. DRM Clip Capture does not provide functionality to bypass DRM or encrypted media protection. If Clip Capture detects information indicating that content is encrypted or DRM-protected, it refuses to save that content. Important Notice Clip Capture is intended for locally saving content that the user has the right or permission to save. Before saving or using any content, users are responsible for ensuring that their use complies with applicable copyright laws, website terms of service, contractual obligations, and any other applicable rules. Clip Capture does not support YouTube or DRM-protected media.
