)Overview
Make YouTube, Netflix and Stan captions clickable in any language; click any word or phrase for a plain explanation in yours.
ClickCaption turns video subtitles into an interactive language-learning tool on YouTube, Netflix and Stan — in whatever language the video offers, not just English. Every caption word is clickable: • Click a word — the video pauses and a plain-language explanation appears, matched to how the word is used in that exact sentence. Slang and idioms include a "show origin" follow-up. • ⌘-click (Ctrl-click on Windows) two words — select a whole phrase, with a live preview of the range as you hover, even across the previous sentence. • Words inside an explanation are clickable too, so you can drill into anything you don't know. Captions follow the platform, in any language: • Switch the subtitle language in the video player's own menu — YouTube's CC menu (including auto-translate), Netflix's audio & subtitles panel — and ClickCaption follows automatically, mid-video. • Languages written without spaces (Chinese, Japanese, Thai) are properly segmented so every word is individually clickable. Explanations in your language: • Choose from 15 languages in the popup, or leave it on Auto to match the captions — Chinese captions get Chinese explanations, Spanish gets Spanish. Built for study flow: • Keyboard navigation: A/← previous sentence, D/→ next, S/↓ repeat, W/↑ pause. • Recent lookups are saved with a deep link back to the exact moment in the video. Requires a free account; AI-powered explanations use a subscription after the trial.
