Click-to-Block hides the parts of a web page you don't want to see. Click the toolbar icon, point at a pop-up, banner, sidebar or floating widget, and click. It's gone, and it stays gone every time you visit that site. HOW IT WORKS • Click the Click-to-Block icon (or press Alt+Shift+B) and choose "Pick an element to hide". • Move the pointer over the page. The element under it is highlighted, with a label that says what it is. • Click to hide it. Press ↑ or ↓ first if you want a bigger or smaller part of the page. • Keep clicking to hide more, press Undo to take one back, and press Esc or Done when you're finished. WHAT YOU GET • Your choices are remembered for each site and applied before the page appears, so hidden elements don't flash back. • Works on newsletter pop-ups, cookie bars, sticky headers, chat bubbles, floating video players, "recommended" rails, embedded frames and anything else that is part of the page. • If a pop-up had frozen the page, scrolling is switched back on when you hide it. • The popup lists everything hidden on the current site. Show an element again, pause a site or delete a rule with one click. Hover a rule to see which element it is. • A settings page with all your sites, search, and export/import to a file. • A badge on the icon shows how many elements are hidden on the current page. • Light and dark theme. WHAT IT IS NOT Click-to-Block hides page elements with CSS. It does not block network requests, downloads or trackers, and it is not a replacement for a content blocker. GOOD TO KNOW • Tabs that were already open when you install the extension need one reload before it can work in them. The popup tells you when that is the case and offers a Reload button. • Chrome does not allow any extension to run on chrome:// pages or on the Chrome Web Store. • Content inside an embedded frame can be hidden as a whole frame, not piece by piece. DATA AND PRIVACY Click-to-Block does not transmit, sell or share any data. It makes no network requests at all. To remember your choices it saves, in Chrome's local storage on your device only: • the hostname of each site where you hid something, • the CSS selector of each hidden element, with a short label such as "Dialog" or "Bottom bar", • your on/off and pause settings. Nothing is saved until you hide your first element. It stores no page content, no browsing history beyond those hostnames, and no personal information, and nothing is saved from Incognito windows. You can view, export or delete this data at any time on the settings page, and removing the extension deletes it. PERMISSIONS • storage: to remember what you chose to hide. • "Read and change your data on all websites": hiding an element means adding a style rule to the page, and only a script inside the page can do that. The script reads your saved rules for that site, applies them, and shows the picker when you ask for it. It does nothing else.
