Clearplay lets you choose your preferred playback quality on desktop YouTube. Choose 1080p, 1440p, 4K or the highest available resolution from a compact glass-style popup. Clearplay applies your preference to the player, with an optional buffer wait and a one-video bypass. FEATURES - Preferred quality: 1080p, 1440p, 4K or highest available. - Uses the first available resolution at or above your choice, or the video's highest if your preference is unavailable. - Optional 5, 10 or 20-second prebuffer wait, once per video. - One-video bypass to let YouTube choose automatically. - Small on-page status pill that can be hidden. - Playback quality and buffering status in the popup. - Optional locally generated click sounds. PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS Clearplay runs on www.youtube.com to read the current video context and playback state and apply your chosen quality. Preferences stay in your browser. Temporary playback status is processed locally. It does not record a watch-history log or read Chrome's browsing-history database. It includes no analytics or advertising, makes no independent network requests and sends no data to the developer. YouTube continues its normal video streaming and website activity. LIMITATIONS Clearplay cannot add resolutions that the source video does not offer. YouTube controls how far ahead it buffers and may not honour every quality request. Optional prebuffering skips live streams; if its target is not reached within 30 seconds, press Play to continue. YouTube player changes may require an extension update. Designed for standard desktop YouTube watch pages, not Shorts, embedded players or TV apps. Disable other quality-control extensions if their settings conflict. Free to use.
