Overview

Use Clear Cache Extension for Chrome™ to clear browser cache in one click, clear cookies for one site, or delete browsing history.

Clear Cache Extension for Chrome™ removes cached images and files in one click while keeping your cookies and browsing history. If a page still shows yesterday’s layout after a refresh, start with Cache only. If a website keeps asking you to sign in, you can clear cookies for one site instead. 🧭 PICK WHAT TO CLEAR Open Clear Cache Extension for Chrome™ from the toolbar and choose a mode. • Cache only removes cached files across websites for the time range you choose. Your sign-ins and saved site preferences stay in place. • Site data resets the current site’s cookies, saved settings and temporary tab data. Check the domain in the popup before you continue. • Site + cache also removes offline data for that site and cached files across websites. • Custom lets you choose individual categories. Use it when you want to remove one kind of data and keep the rest. 🔄 REFRESH AN OUTDATED PAGE 1. Open the page you want to check and select Cache only. 2. Choose Last hour, Last 7 days or All time. Last hour is a good starting point if you just deployed a change. 3. Select Clear cache, then reload the page. To reload automatically, turn on “Reload page after cleaning” in Settings. The page refreshes when you close the popup, so you can read the result first. 🍪 HOW TO CLEAR COOKIES FOR ONE SITE To delete cookies for one site, open that website, choose Custom and select only Sign-in data. You may need to sign in again on that domain, including related subdomains. Cookies for unrelated websites stay in place. Passwords saved in the browser’s password manager are preserved. 🧰 RESET A WEB APP Clear Cache Extension for Chrome™ also lets you clear site data when a web app remembers the wrong settings or keeps loading an old offline copy. Under Custom, match the option to the symptom. ▸ Saved settings — clear local storage to reset preferences the website keeps between visits. ▸ Tab data — clear session storage to reset temporary values in the current tab. ▸ Offline data — remove the site’s IndexedDB databases. This can include locally saved work, so check what you need before selecting it. 🕘 CHOOSE A PERIOD FOR HISTORY To delete browsing history, open Custom, select History under All sites and choose a period. Clear Cache Extension for Chrome™ asks for history access when needed. Selecting All time brings up an extra confirmation before deletion. The period applies to browser-wide history and cached files. Site-specific cookies and storage are reset for the selected site regardless of that period. 🌙 CLEAN WHEN CHROME CLOSES To clear cache on exit, open Settings in Clear Cache Extension for Chrome™ and choose “Clean when Chrome closes.” Automatic cleaning runs when the last browser window closes and covers all time. • Choose Cache only to remove cached files. • Choose Cache + offline data (all sites) to remove offline databases across websites as well. This broader mode also includes history if you have selected it and granted access. • Choose Off to run cleanups manually. ✓ CHECK THE RESULT After a manual cleanup, Clear Cache Extension for Chrome™ lists the categories it cleared. If a page blocked access to part of its storage, the result identifies what still needs attention. Reload the page to retry. 💬 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What does clearing cache do? It removes local copies of website files, so the browser can fetch them again on your next visit. This is useful for checking an updated image, script or stylesheet. The first reload may take longer while those files download. Can I clear browser cache for just the current domain? When you clear Chrome cache, the selected period applies across sites. To reset just the current website, pick Site data or choose its storage categories in Custom. How do I clear cache and cookies together? Choose Site + cache for a full site reset. If you want only those two categories, use Custom and select Cached files and Sign-in data. Can I clear browsing data from the keyboard? Clear Cache Extension for Chrome™ provides shortcuts for Site data and Site + cache. Find your key combinations at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Both shortcuts include site data and can sign you out. Will clearing history remove my saved passwords? Your saved passwords stay in the password manager. To clear browsing history alone, select only History in Custom. Chrome is a trademark of Google LLC. This extension is independently developed.
