CleanRead transforms any article into a clean, distraction-free reading view with one click. The web is cluttered. Ads, popups, cookie banners, sidebars, auto-playing videos, newsletter modals, and floating navigation bars compete for your attention when all you want to do is read an article. CleanRead removes all of it and gives you just the content in beautifully typeset layout. How it works: Navigate to any article or blog post. Click the CleanRead icon. The page transforms into a clean reading view with proper typography, comfortable spacing, and nothing else. Click the icon again to return to the original page. What CleanRead removes: Advertisements and tracking elements Cookie consent banners and popups Navigation bars, sidebars, and footers Related article sections and recommendation widgets Social sharing buttons and floating elements Comment sections Auto-playing media What CleanRead preserves: Article title, author, and publication date Full text with headings, bold, italic, and links Images, properly sized and centered Block quotes and pull quotes Code blocks with monospace formatting Ordered and unordered lists Estimated reading time based on word count Reading experience: CleanRead uses carefully chosen typography with a 680-pixel content width, generous line height, and comfortable paragraph spacing. Text is set in a serif font optimized for long-form reading. Code blocks are displayed in monospace with a subtle background. The result is comparable to the best reading apps and e-readers. Dark mode: CleanRead automatically follows your system preference. If your operating system is set to dark mode, CleanRead renders in a dark theme with adjusted contrast ratios for comfortable reading. No toggle needed. Privacy: CleanRead operates entirely within your browser. No data is collected, stored, or transmitted. The article content is processed locally using Mozilla's open-source Readability library, the same engine that powers Firefox Reader View. Nothing leaves your device.
