NotebookLM Companion
Overview
Save webpages, PDF links, and selected public YouTube videos into your own NotebookLM notebooks.
NotebookLM Companion helps you collect useful sources while browsing and send them to your own NotebookLM notebooks from Chrome’s native side panel. Instead of copying links, switching tabs, and manually adding sources, open the side panel, choose your NotebookLM account and notebook, review the current tab, and add the source with one click. 👋 Use NotebookLM Companion to: • Save the current webpage into a selected NotebookLM notebook. • Add public PDF URLs when NotebookLM accepts them as sources. • Fall back to readable page text when NotebookLM cannot keep a webpage link source. • Add supported public YouTube watch links that NotebookLM accepts. • Select public YouTube videos from channel Videos, Shorts, and Playlists, then import them in batches. • Expand selected playlists into individual YouTube video sources. • Hide or review videos that are already in the selected notebook. • Respect NotebookLM source limits with clearer capacity states. • Choose among detected NotebookLM / Google accounts in the same Chrome profile. • View notebook source counts when NotebookLM provides them. • Review notebook sources and remove selected sources when managing a notebook. • Avoid obvious duplicate imports into the same notebook. • Use a localized side-panel experience in supported Chrome languages. NotebookLM Companion is designed for researchers, students, writers, creators, and anyone who uses NotebookLM to organize material from the web. It keeps the workflow focused: pick a notebook, add the current source, and continue browsing. 🎬 YouTube Support YouTube imports depend on what NotebookLM accepts. Public YouTube videos generally need captions or auto-generated captions, and some videos may fail if they are private, deleted, unsafe, too new, captionless, or otherwise unsupported by NotebookLM. When importing from YouTube channel pages, NotebookLM Companion helps load public Videos, Shorts, and Playlists, expands selected playlists into individual video sources, skips obvious duplicates, and checks the selected notebook’s available source capacity before importing. 🔐 Privacy And Data NotebookLM Companion runs from user actions in Chrome. It reads the active page only when you start an import or when the side panel needs to show the current tab. Selected source content is sent to NotebookLM because that is the destination you choose. The extension does not operate a custom backend, does not sell user data, and does not use your browsing data for advertising or analytics. Local Chrome extension storage is used for preferences and lightweight UI state, such as selected account, selected notebook, cached notebook data, source counts, and duplicate-source memory. NotebookLM Companion is not affiliated with Google or NotebookLM. 🚀 Quick Start 1. Install NotebookLM Companion. 2. Sign in to NotebookLM in the same Chrome profile. 3. Open a webpage, public PDF URL, YouTube watch page, or supported YouTube channel page. 4. Click the extension icon to open the Chrome side panel. 5. Choose your NotebookLM account and target notebook. 6. Click Add to notebook. 📣 What’s New In 0.2.2 • Improved notebook source count and capacity syncing after imports and deletions. • Improved source cleanup when a webpage link fails and the extension falls back to readable page text. • Improved handling of restricted, failed, or error-state sources so capacity feedback is clearer. • Improved bulk source deletion progress and responsiveness. • Improved YouTube batch import responsiveness for larger channel or playlist selections. • Improved duplicate and already-added source handling after source changes. • Added and refined localized extension UI and package metadata for 20 supported Chrome locales. • Polished side-panel feedback for import, delete, capacity, and source-management states.
