Overview

Unofficial Claude usage badge: session, weekly limits (all models/Sonnet/Opus/Fable/Design), extra usage, and plan tier.

See your Claude usage at a glance — right in the toolbar. UNOFFICIAL — Claude Usage Badge is an independent open-source project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic. "Claude" is a trademark of Anthropic, PBC, used only to describe what this extension does. Claude Usage Badge adds a small badge to your browser toolbar showing how close you are to your overall Claude limit. Click it for the full breakdown: Session & weekly limits • Session (5-hour) bar with reset countdown • Weekly (7-day) bar across all models • Per-model weekly bars with real names — Sonnet, Opus, Fable, Claude Design • Uses Claude's own severity levels to color each bar • Auto-adapts as Claude adds or renames limits — no extension update required Smart badge • Shows your overall usage — session or weekly (all models), whichever is higher — so the number always reflects whether you can actually keep using Claude • A single model maxing out its own weekly quota (e.g. Fable) won't falsely spike the badge to 100% while your real capacity is fine — that detail lives in the popup's "By model" section instead • Still turns red the instant your usage credits go over budget, since that's real money regardless of which limit triggered it • Readable on both light and dark toolbars Usage credits — done right • Understands three states: ON, PAUSED, and OFF — not a misleading flat "off" • If you hit your monthly cap, shows PAUSED / OVER LIMIT with your true percentage (even over 100%), a red card, and a clear explanation • Monthly spend vs. limit, prepaid balance, and auto-reload status • Built for the moment usage credits actually matter — when you're past a limit and real money is on the line Subscription tier • Accurate plan pill: Free, Pro, Team, Enterprise, Max 5×, Max 20× Reliable & respectful • Live-updates while the popup is open • Backs off automatically if rate-limited • Guides you to sign in when your Claude session expires • Keeps your data across browser and extension updates How it works The extension reads Claude's own usage API — the same data Claude's frontend uses — to show your real utilization numbers. A lightweight content script detects when you send messages and triggers a refresh. Usage also refreshes automatically every few minutes. No data leaves your browser. No third-party servers. No analytics. No tracking. Permissions explained • Storage: persists your usage state between browser restarts • Cookies: reads your Claude org ID to call the usage API • Alarms: periodic background refresh • Host permission (claude.ai): required to read usage data from Claude's API Open source. Minimal. Private. github.com/zealot-network/claude-usage-badge
