ClassTimer
Overview
A distraction-free, always-on-top classroom countdown. Type minutes and press Enter, or follow your bell schedule.
A big, clear countdown that floats on top of your other windows while you keep working. Others see only the time; the controls stay with you. START A TIMER IN A SECOND Type 5 and press Enter for a five-minute timer. Decimals work too: 2.5 is 2:30. Space pauses, A adds 30 seconds, and Ctrl+Shift+9 adds 30 seconds from anywhere in Chrome. While you type a new time, the floating timer previews it before you press Enter. FOLLOW YOUR BELL SCHEDULE Enter your bell times once and tick the periods you teach. ClassTimer counts down to dismissal all day and moves to the next period on its own. Minimum days, assemblies, testing days and holidays are handled with special days. Laguna Hills High School bell schedules are built in; any school can set up its own in a few minutes. MADE FOR THE BACK ROW The digits use Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed by the Braille Institute so similar-looking characters can't be confused. They resize to fill the floating window at any size. Choose Classic, Chalkboard, Whiteboard or High contrast, or set your own colors. FEATURES • Floating, always-on-top timer window that shows only the digits • Hover over it for play/pause, +30 seconds and bell-schedule buttons • Open the floating timer from the toolbar menu, no settings page needed • Countdown, stopwatch, and automatic bell-schedule modes • Amber under 5 minutes, red under 1, a pulse at 0:00, and an optional soft chime • Hide the time from students without stopping it (H or Ctrl+Shift+H) • Schedule editor that catches overlapping periods and typos before saving • Import and export schedules as CSV or JSON; full backup and restore • Optional sync of your schedules and settings across computers through Chrome sync • Keeps counting correctly after sleep, restarts, or a closed window PRIVATE AND OFFLINE No account, ads, analytics or tracking. ClassTimer works offline, asks for a single permission (storage), and cannot see the web pages you visit. Requires Chrome 116 or newer on a desktop or laptop. Keep the ClassTimer Control Center tab (or the small launcher window) open while the floating timer is showing — Chrome closes a floating window when the page that opened it closes.
