Family Beacon Pop-up Guard
Overview
Blocks fake virus and tech-support warnings and lookalike websites, and alerts the family through Family Beacon.
Family Beacon Pop-up Guard protects the people you love from fake "your computer is infected" warnings. Scam pages pretend to be Microsoft, Apple, Windows Defender or a bank. They go full screen, play alarms, refuse to close, and tell the person to call a phone number. The "support agent" on the phone then asks for remote access to the computer, gift cards or bank details. Pop-up Guard notices these pages and steps in: - It covers the whole page with a calm, large message: "This is a fake warning. Nothing is wrong with your computer. Do not call any number on this page." - It turns off the alarm sound, leaves full screen and stops the page from trapping the browser. - A big "Close this tab" button closes the scam page. - If your family has set a contact, the message also says who to call, for example "If you are worried, call Aunt May." - It also warns about lookalike websites that pretend to be well-known banks and shops. It works together with Family Beacon (familybeacon.ai), a service that lets a family look out for an older relative. When a fake warning is blocked, the family gets an alert, so someone can call and check in.
