Markdown Clip turns the page you are reading into clean, well-structured Markdown and puts it on your clipboard. No sidebar, no account, no upload. WHAT IT DOES - Copy one page — strips navigation, ads, cookie banners, comment threads and related-post blocks, then keeps the article: headings, lists, tables, code blocks, blockquotes, links and images. - Copy many pages at once — pick from the tabs you already have open and get one Markdown document with a divider between each source. Built for the moment when you have fourteen tabs of research and need all of it in one place. - See the size before you paste — a running token estimate against a 200k context window, so you know whether it fits before you find out the hard way. Counts Japanese, Chinese and Korean text correctly rather than assuming four characters per token. - Keeps the source — every clip carries its title, URL and publication date, so the text stays attributable after you paste it. WHY IT IS BUILT THIS WAY Extraction runs on general text-density analysis, not on a list of hand-written rules for individual websites. That means it works on sites nobody has written a rule for, and it does not break the week a site redesigns. PRIVACY Everything happens in your browser. There is no server, no analytics, no account, and no network request of any kind. The extension cannot send your browsing anywhere because it has nowhere to send it. Permission to read other tabs is optional and is requested only at the moment you first use multi-tab copying. Decline it and single-page copying still works. GOOD FOR Feeding sources to an AI assistant, research notes, documentation drafts, moving content into Obsidian or Notion, archiving an article as text, or preparing reference material for a long-context prompt. LIMITS Works on http and https pages. Browser settings pages, the Chrome Web Store and PDF viewers are off limits to all extensions, including this one. Pages that render text entirely through canvas cannot be read.
