Overview

Citrix Workspace app for ChromeOS

The Early Access Release/ Tech preview of Citrix Workspace app The purpose of this EAR is to ensure that everything works in your enterprise using Citrix Workspace app for ChromeOS. It is supported only on ChromeOS endpoints. What's new In addition to new features, this release is compatible with ChromeOS versions 143. This release addresses areas that improve overall performance and stability. Following are the new features and enhancements: - Integration of deviceTRUST Starting with version 2511, CWA ChromeOS supports deviceTRUST integration, enhancing security through continuous device posture checks within sessions. This integration ensures only compliant ChromeOS devices can access Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops. - Always On Tracing (AOT) CWA ChromeOS now supports Always On Tracing (AOT), a modern diagnostic framework from Citrix that continuously captures relevant log data across the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environment. This feature simplifies troubleshooting for IT administrators and Citrix support teams by automatically capturing log data for user sessions and system events, eliminating the need to reproduce issues. AOT makes logs easily accessible and readable without engineering-level expertise, enabling self-service diagnostics to reduce dependency on Citrix Support and improve mean-time-to-resolution. - Default audio device selection Starting with version 2511, CWA ChromeOS lets users select and save their preferred audio speaker and microphone devices from the session toolbar for each VDA. This feature offers a more customized audio experience with the following key features when connected to a virtual desktop: Device selection: Users can assign different input and output audio devices to different VDAs. For example, you can have two different VDAs, each using a separate default speaker (one built-in speaker and one headset). The exact audio device can be selected for each active VDA from the Preferences section. The selected device becomes the default device from the same session. Configuration persistence: The system preserves the selected configuration for the next session, ensuring a seamless experience. - Entra ID single sign-on support for VDA with Azure AD credentials Previously, users were prompted for credentials when launching HDX sessions with Microsoft Entra ID joined VDAs because there was no SSO support for VDA with Entra ID credentials. This creates challenges for users who migrate from traditional Active Directory to Azure AD as their primary identity provider. Starting with version 2511, CWA ChromeOS now provides a seamless single sign-on (SSO) experience for VDAs with Entra ID credentials. This feature eliminates the need for users to enter credentials when launching HDX sessions with Microsoft Entra ID joined VDAs, providing a streamlined authentication experience. - Global App Configuration service v2 authenticated user group support Starting with version 2511, CWA ChromeOS now supports Global App Configuration Service v2 authenticated user group support, enabling administrators to configure settings for specific user groups through configuration profiles instead of applying settings store-wide. - Fixed issues - When you scan with CWA ChromeOS on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) VDA servers experiences consistent delay or lag due to platform-specific connectivity issues that affect only ChromeOS endpoints connecting to GCP-hosted VDAs. Fix will be avaliable from CVAD 2507 CU1 onwards.[CVADHELP-29259] - When a store with Azure IDP is accessed with CWA ChromeOS in KIOSK mode or accessed after the store is left to idle state, the end user might see an error - "Request Header or Cookie too large". [CCPHELP-13096] - DPI matching does not work when the DPI value is set to less than 100% on ChromeOS devices. Sessions launch with autofit (100% scaling) instead. [CVADHELP-29886] - Known issues - There are no new known issues in this release. Notes: If you are on HTTP-based stores, for a secure context, we recommend that you transition to HTTPS-based stores. For more information, see https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/storefront/1912-ltsr/secure.html#change-storefront-server-base-url-from-http-to-https. Recommendations: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops version 7.6 has reached end of maintenance. For more information, see https://www.citrix.com/support/product-lifecycle/product-matrix.html. With the legacy graphics mode enabled, a black screen might appear in sessions running on 7.6 VDAs. We recommend setting the Legacy Graphics Mode to Disabled.
