Download the reference PDFs for your CiteFirm citation check through your own library and publisher access.

CiteFirm checks that every citation in a paper actually supports the claim it is attached to. To do that, it needs the PDF of each cited paper, and many of those require a subscription that you can already read through your university library or your own account. This extension fetches those PDFs for you, in your own browser, using the access you already have: • One click in CiteFirm downloads the reference PDFs for a project. Nothing is downloaded until you start it. • Works with your library's proxy (EZproxy), OpenAthens, and publisher sign-ins through your institution, including single sign-on and two-factor login. If a sign-in is needed, it opens one sign-in tab and continues when you're done. • Prefers the official published version. It uses an arXiv preprint only when the official version can't be obtained, and preprints are clearly labelled. • Spaces out requests to each publisher and caps downloads per hour and per day, so your institution's access isn't put at risk. • Never sees or stores your passwords. It relies on the sessions already in your browser. • Access to publisher websites is optional and is asked for only when you first download. Downloaded PDFs are stored privately in your CiteFirm account and are not shared with other users. Requires a CiteFirm account (citefirm.com). You are responsible for following your library's and publishers' terms. Many limit automated or bulk downloading, so only download material your access allows you to use with a third-party service.
