Citation Verifier — Paper Scorer
Overview
Scores research papers 0-100 as you browse ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, PubMed, or arXiv. Flags AI-fabricated citations.
Citation Verifier automatically checks research papers for authenticity as you browse the web — no copying, pasting, or manual searching required. HOW IT WORKS The extension scans any page you visit — including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude conversations, arXiv, and PubMed — and detects research paper citations automatically. Each paper gets a score from 0 to 100, shown as a small badge right next to it, along with a plain-English label: Verified, Some concerns, Unverifiable, or Likely fabricated. WHY THIS MATTERS AI chat assistants sometimes generate citations that look completely real but don't actually exist, or attach a real DOI to a fabricated title. Citation Verifier catches both patterns — checking whether a paper genuinely exists in CrossRef and DataCite, whether it's been retracted, and whether the DOI you're given actually matches the paper it claims to be. WHAT EACH SCORE MEANS - Verified — the paper exists, is not retracted, and its DOI matches its title - Some concerns — real, but from a lower-tier or less established source - Unverifiable — could not be checked right now (temporary network issue, not necessarily a problem with the paper) - Likely fabricated — could not be found anywhere, or a real DOI is being used to back up a fake title CLICK ANY BADGE See exactly why a paper got its score — full breakdown of every factor that contributed, right on the page, no extra tab or website needed. WORKS EVERYWHERE ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, arXiv, PubMed, and any other page listing academic citations.
