Overview

Tick the films you're considering on Letterboxd and let it pick one for you.

An independent extension, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Letterboxd. It picks a film for you when your watchlist has become the problem rather than the solution. Watchlists grow faster than they shrink. At some point the list stops being a plan and turns into a decision you keep postponing. This extension takes that decision away from you for the price of one click. HOW IT WORKS • Switch it on from the one-time tip on Letterboxd or from the toolbar popup, or set it to switch on by itself on every visit. • Tick the posters you are considering. Checkboxes appear on watchlists, user lists, member film pages, actor and director filmographies, and the Films browse pages. • Keep going across pages and lists. Your selection pool stays with you as you move around within the same tab. • Press Spin. The result arrives on a short reel, with a direct link to the chosen title. • Optional filters narrow the pool by release year, runtime, genre (include and exclude) or average rating. • Interface in English and Turkish, following your browser language. A REQUEST BUDGET, WRITTEN AS AN ETHICAL RULE Every request made on your behalf is attributed to your own account, so the extension spends as few as it can: • Building the pool, and spinning without filters, costs zero network requests: the checkboxes only read what is already on screen. • Year, runtime, genre and rating details are fetched only when you actually use a filter, and only until one matching title turns up, never for the whole pool. • At most 3 at a time, at least 300 ms apart, 50 per spin at the very most. Paths disallowed in robots.txt are never requested. • Fetched details are cached in your browser, so the same page is not asked for twice. WHAT IT NEVER DOES • It is read-only: nothing is written, rated, logged or changed on your account. • No server, analytics, telemetry or third parties. Nothing is sent to the developer. • One permission (storage), no host_permissions entry and no background service worker; the content script runs only on letterboxd.com pages.
