Chrome Bookmarks Fix

Verify bookmarks, move dead links to a Trash folder that mirrors their original path, keep run logs and full backups.

Find and clean up dead bookmarks without losing anything. Chrome Bookmarks Fix checks every link in your bookmarks, shows you which ones no longer work, and moves the dead ones to a Trash folder that keeps their original folder structure. You can undo any move, and you can back up your bookmarks before you start. HOW IT WORKS • Check all your bookmarks with "Verify all", or right-click a folder in the dashboard to check only that folder and its subfolders. • Each link is tested directly. Redirects are followed, and you see the exact reason a link failed: page not found (404/410), server error (5xx), domain not found, connection refused, SSL certificate problem or timeout. • Results are sorted into four tabs: – Failed: links that are clearly dead – Uncertain: 401/403/429 responses and Cloudflare challenges, which are usually bot protection rather than a dead site – Working – Skipped: non-web links such as javascript: or chrome:// • A link that appears in more than one bookmark is checked only once. SAFE CLEANUP • Failed links are pre-selected and uncertain ones are not, so you decide what gets moved. • "Move selected to Trash" moves bookmarks to Other bookmarks/Trash/<original path>, for example Trash/Bookmarks bar/Dev/Tools, so you always know where each one came from. • Nothing is deleted. Undo puts each bookmark back in its original folder and position, recreates the folder if you deleted it, and removes Trash subfolders that end up empty. HISTORY AND BACKUPS • The last 50 runs are kept in the History tab. You can reopen a run, undo its moves or download its log as JSON. • Back up all your bookmarks, or a single folder, as HTML (the standard bookmark format any browser can import) or as JSON (the full tree with ids and dates). • Nothing is ever written to disk without your action. Every download opens a Save dialog. SETTINGS • Timeout per link (15 seconds by default) • Number of links checked in parallel (8 by default) • Skip the Trash folder when checking (on by default) PRIVACY • No accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no outside servers. • Your bookmarks, settings and run history stay in your browser's local storage. • The only network requests are the ones that check your bookmarked links, sent straight to those websites. Tip: keep the dashboard tab open while a check runs. Closing it cancels the run.
