Overview

Type LaTeX and instantly render it — fully offline. Copy the equation as an image, LaTeX, or MathML, or download it as a PNG.

LaTeX Math Equations for Google Chrome™ — What's New Write a math equation, see it render instantly, and copy or download it as an image in a single click. Our latest update is the biggest the extension has ever had: a complete visual redesign, a real settings page, an in-app instruction guide, smarter web-page copying, full accessibility, and 40+ languages — all while staying 100% offline and private. Here is everything we added and improved. A FRESH, DISTRACTION-FREE DESIGN We rebuilt the popup around the one thing you actually came to do: type an equation and copy it. The editor and live preview now lead the layout, followed by a single, obvious "Copy image" button. Gone is the old wall of five settings, seven palette tabs, and six rainbow-colored buttons crowding the top of the window. The new look uses a clean side-panel style with a rounded icon badge in the header, clearly labeled fields, and a calm, modern color palette in both light and dark themes. You get the same powerful features — they're just no longer in your way. PROGRESSIVE DISCLOSURE — SIMPLE BY DEFAULT, POWERFUL ON DEMAND Advanced tools are now tucked behind tidy toggles so first-time users aren't overwhelmed. Style controls, the symbol palette, and your saved history each open only when you want them, and a live count shows how many equations you've saved. Secondary exports (Download SVG, Copy LaTeX, Copy MathML) live under a neat "More" menu, while "Copy image" and "Download PNG" stay one click away. A QUICK-ACCESS SYMBOL ROW The most-used math symbols — ∑ ∫ √ fractions, exponents, α, π, ∞, →, ≤, ≥ — now sit in an always-visible quick row right above the editor, with a "⋯" button that expands the full categorized palette (Greek letters, operators, relations, arrows, calculus, structures, and accents) whenever you need more. HELPFUL STATES AND FRIENDLY ERRORS The editor now greets you with a worked example and clickable starter chips (Quadratic formula, Fraction, Matrix, Integral) so you're never staring at a blank box. While the renderer warms up you'll see a "Preparing renderer…" skeleton instead of silent, inert buttons. After you copy or save, the button confirms with a green "✓ Copied / ✓ Saved" and a toast message. Syntax errors are now translated into plain English with a "Fix tips" helper, instead of cryptic technical jargon. A DEDICATED SETTINGS PAGE Input format, color, size, background, and the optional online-render fallback have moved out of the cramped popup and into a proper Chrome options page, opened from the gear icon. Your choices sync instantly back to the popup and the detached window, so everything stays in step. NEW: INSTRUCTION GUIDE A new "Instruction Guide" button in the header opens a built-in, offline help page that walks you through every feature — writing equations, the symbol palette, live preview, copying, downloading and dragging, keyboard shortcuts, settings, history, copying math from any web page, dark mode, the detached window, the online fallback, and our privacy/offline promise. It follows your dark-mode preference and never touches the network. SMARTER COPYING FROM ANY WEB PAGE Hover a math equation on almost any website and a compact "⧉" chip appears at the equation's top-right — offset so it never covers the math — and expands to let you copy the LaTeX or MathML. It now automatically adapts to dark or light pages and stays neatly inside the viewport. A ROOMIER WINDOW MODE "Open in window" now unlocks a responsive two-pane layout on wider screens: the editor and actions on the left, a large sticky preview on the right — perfect for building slides, worksheets, or research notes — while the toolbar popup stays compact. BETTER DRAG-AND-DROP AND SHORTCUTS Dragging an equation into your document now shows the actual rendered equation as the drag image, so you see exactly what you're dropping. The preview cross-fades smoothly on every change, and a new Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+C shortcut copies the image instantly. Deleting a history item — or clearing everything — now offers a six-second "Undo" so accidents are easy to reverse. ACCESSIBILITY AND 40+ LANGUAGES We completed a full accessibility pass: all text and the primary button now meet WCAG AA contrast in both themes, with visible focus rings, full keyboard operability for the history list, proper labels for screen readers, and respect for reduced-motion settings. The popup and settings are now localized across 40+ languages. PRIVATE AND OFFLINE BY DESIGN As always, equations render locally on your own machine. The extension works fully offline, requires only minimal permissions, and sends nothing anywhere unless you explicitly turn on the optional online fallback. Update today for a faster, friendlier, more capable LaTeX equation editor — without losing a single feature you already rely on.
