Every time you open a new tab, Chinese Vocab Tab shows you one word: the characters, pinyin with tone marks, what it means, and two example sentences you can hear read aloud. Glance at it and carry on with what you were doing. Over a week of ordinary browsing, that adds up. WHAT'S ON EACH CARD - The word in simplified characters - Pinyin with tone marks, written as it's actually said - Meanings, kept short enough to read at a glance - Two example sentences, each with its own pinyin and translation - Audio for the word and for both sentences - A short note on many cards — a character's components, a tone change, or a distinction that's easy to get wrong TIERED BY HSK, NOT BY GUESSWORK Words are grouped by the level at which they appear in the official HSK word lists, so the tiers match a real syllabus rather than someone's judgement about what counts as beginner or advanced. - HSK 1, 2 and 3 — complete - HSK 4, 5 and 6 — the most frequently used words from each level, with more added over time 1,295 words in total. Choose any combination of levels; the extension draws from whatever you've selected. Note: this follows the six-level HSK 2.0 lists, which is what most current textbooks use. If you're studying for the newer nine-level HSK 3.0 exam, the groupings here won't match your syllabus. PRONUNCIATION YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE Audio is generated with high-quality speech synthesis and hosted as ready-made files, so playback is instant. Every word and every example sentence has its own recording — 3,885 clips in all. Sentences are read slightly under conversational speed, because tone contours are what you're listening for. MARK WHAT YOU KNOW Press "I know this one" and a word stops appearing. Your memorized list lives in the settings panel, where you can review it or put a word back into rotation. Progress syncs between computers where you're signed into the same Chrome account. ONE WORD A DAY, IF YOU PREFER There's a focus mode that shows the same word on every tab until tomorrow, instead of a new one each time. Useful if a stream of new words feels like noise rather than study. CURRENTLY FREE, AND PRIVATE The extension is free to use at the moment.
