Magpie is a quiet side panel for collecting images, screenshots, links and text snippets into private boards — stored on your machine, not our cloud. A COLLECTION, NOT A FEED Every save-it-for-later app eventually becomes a destination: a feed to scroll, an algorithm to please, ads dressed up as inspiration. Magpie is a side panel. It opens when you see something worth keeping and disappears when you're done. Nothing scrolls on its own. Nothing refreshes. EVERYTHING COMES HOME TO YOUR NEST Your whole collection in one calm place: boards with cover images and aggregate color palettes, tags, notes, and search. Every image gets its palette read on your machine — plain color math, no AI required — so you can browse by color or ask for "more like this" and see other clips from your own collection that share a palette. Nothing new is ever introduced; you only ever see what you already caught. Turn on the optional AI helper and Magpie can also title your captures, read the text inside your screenshots, suggest tags, and match searches by meaning ("that greenish poster"). Off by default; more below. PRIVATE, VERIFIABLY Your boards live in your browser's local storage — and, if you flip one switch, as plain files on your disk. "Mirror to files" keeps a live copy of every board in a folder you choose (or a Downloads subfolder): one folder per board, images as ordinary image files, snippets as markdown. Uninstall Magpie and the files are still there. That's not a privacy policy — it's an architecture. • No account required, ever. The free product is the whole product. • No analytics or telemetry in the extension. • Export your entire collection as a zip any time; import restores it anywhere. • Deleting an item hard-deletes its bytes. What leaves your device: nothing, unless you turn something on. The extension's baseline network traffic is fetching an image's bytes when you clip one (only with the optional per-use permission) and loading link-card previews. Turn on AI and the item being processed is sent — a small thumbnail or the snippet text. Sign in and sync, and your boards travel to our servers so your other devices can pull them. Every claim is checkable in DevTools. Fetching original image files cross-origin is a separate, optional grant you can decline or revoke — the screenshot and link-card fallbacks work without it.
