ChessEloShield
Overview
Avoid tilt on chess.com by freezing start-game actions after a loss, with a cooldown timer. Also allows hiding chat and info in-game
ChessEloShield helps you avoid tilt on chess.com. You have the option to hide the chat and hide your opponents info. When you lose a game, it starts a configurable cooldown and temporarily freezes ways to start a new game (Quick Play tiles, Start Game, Rematch). Each button shows a MM:SS countdown via a CSS overlay, no DOM or React flicker. When the timer ends, everything goes back to normal. The cooldown survives page changes and reloads, and you can manually Remove Cooldown from the popup in case something goes wrong. Free, No ads. More Info: Features - Auto-cooldown after loss; manual “Start now.” - Presets (5s/15s/1m/3m/5m) + custom duration. - Optional Hide chat and Hide opponent rating/info. - State syncs across chess.com tabs and resumes after navigation. How it works - Content script watches the game-over header and post-game message. - Background stores cooldownUntil + settings in storage.sync, broadcasts to all chess.com tabs, and clears at expiry. - CSS adds tg-cooling + updates --tg-timer to render the countdown without touching button's children. Permissions (why) - storage (save settings + cooldown timestamp) - tabs, webNavigation (push state across chess.com tabs so the cooldown can continue) - alarms (wake when cooldown expires) - Host: https://www.chess.com/* (run only on chess.com) No analytics, no network calls, no tracking.
