Overview

Shows Lichess boards you watch or analyse in 3D, in Chess Explosion's hall: stone pieces strike, shatter and leave their rubble.

It visualizes what you analyze or watch on Lichess in 3D, featuring stone pieces and the Chess Explosion hall. When an attacker captures, its target shatters, and the rubble remains where it fell. It appears on the analysis board and in studies, where you can also make moves in the hall by dragging or clicking a piece. Each move is played on the normal board as if you had made it there. When you watch Lichess TV, a broadcast or someone else's game, it follows each move; there you only watch. It stays off in puzzles, games you are playing, and variants, keeping the usual view with a small notice. This is deliberate: there is no engine, no evaluation, and no help while you play. Controls The round 2D/3D button at the bottom right of the window switches the extension on and off. Show controls opens Overview, Attack zoom, Speed, Sound, Ambience, how many bats and rats live in the hall and how often they appear, and Screenshot, which saves a picture of the scene to your computer. The Gust button sweeps the rubble onto the hall floor. The toolbar popup holds four settings: On Lichess, Speed, Sound, and Attack zoom. Privacy No account is needed. To draw the scene, the extension reads from the page what kind of page it is, the position, the last move, any check, and which way the board faces. Its own code sends none of this to the developer or anyone else, and it has no analytics. It keeps its four settings in Chrome's storage for extensions, which Chrome copies to your Google account if you use Chrome Sync, and a few display preferences in its own storage in your browser. Needs Chrome on a computer with WebGPU or WebGL 2. If the 3D scene cannot start, a notice says why and the page is left as it was. Two links in the controls, Piece spotlight and World, open the game's website, chessexplosion.com, in a new tab. This is an unofficial extension, not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Lichess.
