SQLite Explorer
Overview
Use SQLite Explorer in Chrome as a .db file viewer and sqlite database viewer: browse tables, filter and sort rows, no SQL needed.
SQLite Explorer – open .db and .sqlite files in Chrome, no SQL needed The SQLite Explorer Chrome extension works as a sqlite database viewer right in your browser. Drop a file onto the tab, click a table and read the rows. Filter and sort a column with a click – the grid does it for you. Nothing is uploaded. Your data never leaves the computer: the engine runs inside the extension, with zero network requests, no account and no ads. 🚀 HOW TO START 1. Click the toolbar icon or press Alt+Shift+D – the explorer opens in a new tab. 2. Drag a .db, .sqlite3 or .db3 onto the page, or use the Open file button. 3. Pick a table or a view in the left panel. 4. Type under a column name to filter, click the header to sort. Nothing to open yet? The first screen has a sample database, so you can try this .db file viewer in ten seconds. 🔎 WHAT YOU GET ✅ Tables with row counts and views in the left panel ✅ A grid with a filter box under every column and sorting by click ✅ Foreign keys as links: click a value to open the row it points to ✅ A row panel for long text, formatted JSON and BLOBs – in hex or as a download ✅ A read-only SQL console: type a query, press Ctrl+Enter, get the result ✅ CSV export of what you see ✅ A schema tab with the CREATE statement, indexes and triggers ✅ A schema diagram: tables as blocks, declared relations as lines 👤 WHO IS IT FOR ➤ Developers who want a sqlite gui for a quick look at an app's local storage ➤ Analysts who got a database file and need the numbers, not a setup guide ➤ QA engineers viewing sqlite database dumps attached to a bug report ➤ Students who want a sqlite3 gui without the command line ➤ Support teams who need a data browser for sqlite logs from a customer 💻 NO INSTALLER A desktop sqlite db browser is a fine tool when you work with data all day. For a one-off look it is a lot: an installer, admin rights, a new interface. Here you need no sqlite explorer download and no SQLite Explorer macOS or Windows app: the extension arrives from the Chrome Web Store in one click and runs in Chrome. 🔒 IN A TAB, BUT NOT UPLOADED If you searched for a sqlite explorer online or a sqlite viewer online, you may wonder where your data goes. Here the answer is: nowhere. It opens in a tab like a website, but everything is read in memory on your machine and works offline. 📤 THREE WAYS TO EXPORT CSV A sqlite reader is half the job – the numbers often have to go somewhere else: 1️⃣ Filtered rows – exactly what you see, sorted as shown 2️⃣ Whole table – every row in one go 3️⃣ Query result – whatever the console returned 🧩 WHAT IS INSIDE The db file extension says little: phones, browsers and desktop apps all keep their data this way. Open one and you see what is really there – which tables exist and how many rows each holds. Built something with Python or the command-line shell? This db explorer for sqlite doubles as a sqlite3 browser for that too. For those who like queries, the console turns the extension into a sqlite database explorer: joins and aggregates run exactly as written, and a long query can be stopped. 🛠 COMMON PROBLEMS, SOLVED ▸ Endless loading? You get a real percentage and a clear message if something cannot be read ▸ Only a query box? This sqlite file viewer shows a grid first, the console is optional ⚠️ HONEST LIMITS - Read-only: this version shows data and does not change it - Encrypted databases (SQLCipher, SEE) cannot be opened - Files larger than 1 GB are not supported - In WAL mode, SQLite Explorer warns you when recent changes may be missing - Links and diagram lines appear only for relations declared in the file ❓ FAQ How to view sqlite database tables without writing SQL? Open it and click a table name. The boxes under the headers filter, a click on a header sorts. How to open a .db file if I don't know what created it? Drop it in. If it can be read, you see its tables. If not, the explorer says why. Can I edit data? Not in this version: it is read-only, and the original on your disk is never changed. Is there a SQLite Explorer Mac version? No separate one is needed. The same extension runs in Chrome on a Mac and on Windows. Is SQLite Explorer portable? Lighter than a portable app: nothing to unpack or carry. Add it to Chrome once and it opens in a tab. Is it a universal sql database viewer? No. It reads one format only. MySQL or PostgreSQL servers and .sql dumps are out of scope. Is this an official tool? No. SQLite Explorer is an independent extension. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the SQLite project or by Hipp, Wyrick & Company, Inc., which owns the trademark. Add it to Chrome and keep a sqlite db explorer one click away.
