Overview
Play chess by voice or mouse: two players on one device, vs computer, or peer-to-peer online.
Play chess at a wooden table in a 3D courtyard, park, office or poolside, and move pieces just by saying them. VOICE CONTROL Click Speak and say your move: "e4", "knight to f3", "e2 to e4", "castle kingside", "a8 promote to knight". Commands like "undo", "flip" and "new game" work too. NATO letters (alpha, bravo…) and common mishearings ("night f three") are understood. If a move is ambiguous, Checkmate asks which piece you meant. THREE WAYS TO PLAY • Two players on one device: take turns by voice or mouse. • Against the computer: Easy, Medium or Hard. On supported devices, Chrome's built-in AI (Gemini Nano) can pick the computer's moves and explain them in one sentence. • Online with a friend: peer-to-peer, with no server and no account. Exchange two short codes over any chat app and play. A REAL 3D TABLE • Hand-shaped Staunton pieces, wooden board and lacquered table, with soft shadows. • Drag to look around, scroll to zoom, double-click to reset the view. • Captured pieces line up beside the board, and moves are animated and read aloud. • Four settings, each with a subtle ambient soundscape: courtyard, park, office and swimming pool. • A classic 2D board is one click away in settings.
