Overview

Use Checker for Gmail™: unread emails on the toolbar badge, gmail desktop notifications and outlook email notification in one panel.

Checker for Gmail is a lightweight gmail checker and desktop notifier for your browser toolbar: it counts unread emails, lists new mail in a side panel and sends gmail desktop notifications the moment a message arrives. Outlook and Hotmail work too. There is no official desktop mail app from Google for Windows or Mac. This gmail checker extension fills the gap: check gmail without keeping a tab open, see the unread count at a glance and open the right email in one click. 📬 WHAT IT DOES ➤ Unread counter on the toolbar badge, refreshed every 30 seconds to 5 minutes. ➤ Desktop notifications for gmail with an optional chime. Click an alert to open the email. ➤ Side panel inbox preview: sender, subject, snippet and time. Unread emails are bold, read mail turns grey. ➤ Category filters: Primary, Promotions, Social, Updates. The badge and alerts follow the filter. ➤ Conversation grouping and automatic read tracking, no manual refresh. ➤ Optional reminders every 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes while a message stays unread. ➤ Light and dark theme that follows your system. 🚀 HOW TO START 1. Install the extension and stay signed in to your Google account in this browser. 2. Pin the icon so the unread count is always visible. 3. Click the icon to open the gmail inbox checker in the side panel. 4. Optional: connect Outlook or Hotmail with Microsoft sign-in. No sign-up and no extra passwords: this google gmail checker works with the session you already have. 🔔 GMAIL NOTIFICATIONS THAT STAY QUIET The built-in gmail desktop notifier shows who wrote and what about, so you decide in a second whether to switch tabs. Prefer silence? Turn off the gmail notification sound and keep visual alerts only. The gmail notifier sound is a short chime, not an alarm. - Alerts for Primary only, if newsletters are noise. - Reminders for an important reply you have not opened yet. - One click from a notification to the message. 👥 SEVERAL ACCOUNTS AND OUTLOOK Manage multiple gmail accounts from one list: work, personal and side projects. The counter covers every signed-in account, and each row opens in the right mailbox. Outlook email notification and Hotmail alerts arrive in the same panel, so outlook desktop notifications and your Google mail live side by side. 1️⃣ Several Google accounts in one badge 2️⃣ Outlook and Hotmail via Microsoft sign-in 3️⃣ One shared list, newest first ⚙️ HOW EMAIL NOTIFICATION WORKS HERE Every 30 seconds to 5 minutes, depending on your setting, the extension asks your mailbox how many unread emails are waiting. When the number grows, you get an email alert with the sender and the subject. When you read a message anywhere, the counter drops on the next check. The same logic powers the outlook notification for Microsoft accounts, so every email notification looks and behaves the same, whichever inbox it comes from. 1. The badge shows the exact unread count. 2. Each new message triggers one alert, plus optional reminders. 3. A read email leaves the counter on its own, no clicks needed. 👤 WHO IT IS FOR • You wait for an important reply and do not want a mail tab pinned all day. • You get too many newsletters and only care about real conversations. • You switch between work and personal mailboxes and lose track of new mail. • You miss the classic toolbar notifier and want a simple inbox checker back. 💡 TIPS ▸ Set the interval to 30 seconds while you wait for something urgent, then relax it to a few minutes. ▸ Keep visual alerts on and mute the email notification sound for silent work. 🔒 PRIVACY Checker for Gmail reads only the unread-mail feed of your Google mailbox with your existing browser session, the same approach the classic Google Mail Checker used. Outlook mail is read through the official Microsoft API after you sign in. No servers of ours, no analytics, no data collection: settings and cached messages stay in your browser. ❓ FAQ 📌 How is this different from keeping the inbox open in a tab? 💡 The gmail mail checker works in the background and tells you when there is something new, so you stop checking the inbox by hand. 📌 Does the email checker for gmail need a password? 💡 No. It uses the Google session already open in your browser. 📌 Is there an outlook notification too? 💡 Yes. Outlook and Hotmail work after Microsoft sign-in, next to your Google accounts. 📌 Why does the badge show a question mark? 💡 Sign in to your Google account in the same browser profile, then reopen the panel. Looking for an email notifier for gmail, a notifier for gmail chrome extension or a simple mail checker for gmail? Checker for Gmail puts the unread count, the inbox preview and the alerts into one small email checker extension.
