Install it, switch it on, and forget about it. Check quietly watches every page you visit. When it finds a misspelled English word, the word turns red with white text right away. There is nothing to open and nothing to configure. No scan button, no popup, no settings. What it does Checks webpage text automatically: articles, comments, messages, search results and pages that load more content as you scroll Checks as you type in chat boxes, comment boxes, email, forms and search bars Highlights mistakes in red with white text, so they're easy to spot Keeps up with changing pages, such as modals, expanding sections and single-page apps Works in <input>, <textarea> and rich-text (contenteditable) fields Smart, not noisy Check skips things that aren't spelling mistakes, including: URLs, email addresses, @usernames and #hashtags Numbers, code and ACRONYMS (NPR, USD, API) Names, places, languages and currencies (Nepal, Nepali, Japanese, Unicode) Common web and tech words Fast and safe Only changed text is re-checked, and every word is checked once and remembered, so typing stays smooth Your text is never modified. Permission justification (for the review form) Host access (http/https/file): Needed to read page and text-field content so misspelled words can be found and highlighted. All checking runs locally; no data leaves the browser. scripting: Used only to start the spell checker in tabs that were already open when the extension was installed. Chrome's privacy section will ask about data use. Based on how Check works today, you can declare that it collects no user data and doesn't send data off the device. Only tick that if you don't change this later.
